i would have to disagree on the idea of "ergonomic grip". For 80% of the cutting tasks in the outdoors, a round handle is the most ideal since it is the most suited for "hammer grip", which allows precise control of the angle of blade on the surface to be cut by adjustment of the the wrist. However, modern folders tend to have a flat profile in favor of ease of carry. Thus, a round handle is unfeasible. To allow a grip, they made the finger groves to encourage putting the thub on the top of the handle or the back of the knife. In this grip, there is a different focus. Since the knife in in line with the forearm, it is a poor grip for (especially longer stroke) slicing, but focuses on using the tip to slice(like a box cutter) The thing about the opinel that is the most important for me the handle. It is one of the few folders that doesn't have a flat handle profile. The collar lock to me is flawed as there is not enough tension to keep it from rotating(like if there is a detent), and the sloped area that engages with the base of the blade does not offer enough enagement to circumvent the lack of tension of the collar. With that said, most uses does not put pressure on the back of the blade, thus there is not a problem of the blade closing. However oftentimes i find the lock disengaged after a period of work, usually from rubbing of the collar with the hand during pinch grips.

Well informed review, thanks for your time, nice blade from what i have seen so far. Have a good day. Fyi always use the spline to scrape off debris, hard on edge as a pusher. Help in long term, second one looks much stronger

This is a good knife, but all knives have their place if I was going to the park with my grandson and I had my Swiss Army knife I would back stop cuts with the saw and make little Easter island faces out of the sticks lol something to pass the time I’m a firefighter in the Boston area and I can recommend this knife a lot. One reason is if I lose it it’s not that big deal and you usually lose your knife at my job but it is lightweight and works very well. Also inexpensive when you do lose it. Thanks for your videos. 🇺🇸

The important thing about sharpening convex on a stone is that the apex is all you're actually sharpening. Unless you're sharpening a Scandi and you're being very diligent about keeping your blade flat on a stone, all freehand edges are convex to some degree because nobody is perfect at holding a steady angle. You just need to know the apex angle of the convex and then sharpen on a stone the same as you would any other edge.

The hooks you mention at 2:07 were used for hooking on, among others things, the swiss army flashlight, which is a rectangular box , with three colored lenses. You could make a whole video just on the flashlight.

This jacket is not good at all against the rain. It’s absolutely not waterproof (it doesn’t claim either that it’s waterproof) it’s water repellent and not so good at it either. Even after one hour in moderate rain it gets really wet from inside. Basically you get what you pay for. Should show jacket from inside how “dry” it is. Video is misleading. People should check other videos where jackets from RR are tested in rain and how wet they get from inside.

Hello. I was looking at a video of someone bragging about the comfrey plant. So I looked it up as I didn't know about it and found you talking about it. I was impressed by how much you know about plants. I'm so sorry about your accident but I pray that you are making a lot more progress. Keep safe.

This plant is everywhere and covers the ground uniformly as a monoculture. Everyone who's been outdoors knows what it is. It tastes like carrot. It think it is in the carrot family. There is another weed that grows even better. I don't know what its name is but we call it Director's Flower. It is a tropical looking plant with a liquid filled stem and normal round leaves with mixed green and red colors. It grows into dense fields about 1.5 meters tall and retains water during hot summer. You can take one stem to your enemy's garden and it will grow roots and spread.

Question if we apply this comfrey to the skin would still be harmful to any of our organs?
@RathwulvenBushcraft
@RathwulvenBushcraft 5 ай бұрын
It is best to consult a chemist in this regard if you really want a clear answer regarding the impact. But a single application on the skin certainly won’t cause immediate organ failure. 🙂

As a skier who already owns many jackets , I just ordered this jacket because of the color. The wind and water proofness matters of course, however as a hard shell I will always have a mid layer and a base layer. If this is not very waterproof as reveiws seem to say I will leave this home that day and wear one of my others. We will see.
