I’ve had a 7R and loved it! Now I own an 8 R performance, with adaptive dampers, that’s the sweet spot, way more flexible and adjustable to drive, it has a way better power delivery over the 7, no turbo lagg and the double clutches on all 4 wheels and new diff take this car a leap ahead to drive over the previous gen. Build quality is the same, but 7.5 has nicer materials, and the buttons on the screen are annoying, had no issues on the steering wheel though. But this cars power delivery is a lot better and launch is progression 👌🏻

Patriotic plug there from a proud Aussie. 🇦🇺 I am intrigued by your use of Horsepower and Newton Meters when quoting the engine power - maybe that’s just my OCD!😂 I am horrified at the condition of your roads - I’d hate to be driving a performance car with low profile tyres!💸💸💸

Enjoy vehicles like this while you can, our little island is going to save the world by installing a hair dryer motor in every vehicle, there’s no where to charge it and you will go a fraction of the distance with it and it will be worth next to nothing second hand, but we are told this is what we must drive, and a few years ago you were told diesel is the way to go but let’s forget that one.

Should have come in sub £40k, most mk1 owners won't buy one of these due to the £500+ VED for the first 6 years as it's over 40k, even as a weekend toy, it will be hard for anyone to want to fork that much money out over the mk1 version, which is a shame really as Toyota is on to a winner with this car.

Hate to disagree with you, Vicki, but since they still offer the manual, why should you care? For instance, when I was shopping for my last car, I bought a Civic. Would have got the Si or Type R but for their lack of an automatic. Oh, I can drive one. But what if the wife needed to use it while her car was in shop or something? And I can have just as much on a road with a sport-tuned automatic as I can with a stick…

People moaning about the price of this need to understand that it isn't a yaris. Do people really expect this to be the same price as a FWD hot hatch based on a normal production car? because this is a very special car and nobody makes these types of anymore. These things are really quick too in the real world and really don't need any tuning.
@uv77mc852 ай бұрын
@@VidNibs yeah but the gen1 was underpriced and they probably never made anything on it. These things take 10 times as long as a normal yaris to build and a yarys is about £25000. GR yaris is limited production so it should really cost about double. Go back to the escort cosworth days and one of those was 20-25 grand while a normal escort was about 10 and the GR yaris is basically a modern escort cosworth

@@troyjollimore4100 The bean counters like a manufacturer to produce fewer variations of a given product. Given full license, the accountants would have all cars be in one colour and specification. There are many places in which automatic gearboxes are the norm, so in the world of today, a manual would seem an anachronistic self-indulgence by many. Hence...a luxury "tax" on manual gearboxes amuses the pseudo-intelligentsia running the marketing departments of today...

Totally agree on the auto gearbox. Realistically, the only people that will spend this money on this kind of car is the people that desperately want the manual gearbox and handbrake, which you will simply NOT find elsewhere today. Personally i wanted a slightly more practical and MUCH better looking car so i went for a 2024 S3 Limousine (the sedan). Could i have specced the S3 with a manual gearbox and old fashioned handbrake, i would have, but that's simply not an option.
