i have a fresh save of emerald from my epilogue, just got to rustborough and have activated mystery gift with the link together with all code. when i try to use the tool it says my .sav file is an invalid file type, any help?

For some reason my GB Operator causes save files to be unusable by PKHeX and Mystery Gift tool whenever I backup save files from the cartridge now. The save files I already had on my pc still work fine, but whenever I back them up from the cartridge it won't let me do it. Pretty sure the GB Operator is adding something to the files that disallows me to do it because PKHeX will say Binary unsupported and Mystery Gift says invalid file. Also the Old Sea Map just will not work on my file. I hit the override but it just won't add them. I got the English versions to work perfectly fine. I had to make seperate save files for each though unfortunately.

Aside from mobile game stuff, I cannot think of any game series other than Pokémon where it is impossible to unlock an in-game event after a certain real life date from real life events at specific locations on Earth. I personally found out about these events even existence years after they already happened and ended.

1:49 The strategy you describe here can still lead to failing a shiny Mew. Mew can use Metronome before it decides to use Transform, and I've even seen footage where a shiny Mew used Metronome 9 times before using Transform. Of course, every turn you risk a Metronome use is a turn you risk failing from recoil, Teleport, Whirlwind, Roar, Self-Destruct, Explosion, etc. What's the solution? Burn Strat. Burn Strat is a catch strategy for Faraway Island's Mew that transforms the stressful task of catching it intona trivial matter. With the peoper preparation, one can guarantee the successful capture of Mew in any Poké Ball by turn 7. This is the strategy you should actually use if you want to utilize the easiest way to catch shiny Mew. Burn Strat: 1. Use Taunt with a burned Pokémon at less than 12.5% HP. Make sure they have 82+ speed to outspeed Mew. When this Pokémon faints, switch into a Smeargle that knows Imprison, Mega Punch, Pound, and Metronome. It also helps if this Smeargle has 82+ speed. 2. Use Imprison. 3. Switch to a Pokémon with a base catch rate of 255. Ensure this Pokémon has moves that will not harm itself or make any of your Pokémon faint if the Transformed Mew uses them. Also ensure this Pokémon does not have an ability that affects the sleep status condition, such as Early Bird, Insomnia, or Vital Spirit. The lower the base Defense and Defense IVs/EVs on this Pokémon, the better (if you plan to use False Swipe later). 4. Switch to a Pokémon with either Yawn or Spore and a move to bring a Transformed Mew (test against 100 base HP and both 0 and 31 HP EVs) to anywhere between exactly 1 HP and 74% HP with or without a crit. I suggest a high level adamant Smeargle holding a Silk Scarf with False Swipe and Spore. 5. Bring the Mew to anywhere between exactly 1 HP and 74% HP. 6. Use either Spore or Yawn. 7. Once the Transformed Mew is asleep, at this point it will have a 100% chance to be caught - regardless of the ball you choose to use on it. Burn Strat removes any possibility of failure, as long as you calculate your damage properly and select the correct actions in the battle itself. This entire strat works because dying to burn gives you a turn to set up Imprison while Mew is still Taunted. Taunt lasts exactly two turns in Gen III, so this extra turn is critical. Orthros and I came up with this strat when he was hunting his Mew, and I've tried to share it with anyone who may not enjoy losing a blue Mew and hundreds of hours to an unlucky Metronome.

You say this requires a single battle video, but in reality that won't do you any more good than none at all. To guarantee new frames are generated each session, one should end every session by recoording a new battle video and begin each hunting session by watching the recorded battle video. Battle videos don't affect the RNG seed, they only jump the game forward to the frame you were at when it was saved. If you only use a single battle video and watch only that one before each sesion (never recording a new one before ending a session), it would have the same effect as not using a battle video at all. You'd still be unlikely to find repeat frames because of the variability run aways introduce, but it's better to be safe than sorry and just record/use new battle videos each time. Speaking of better safe than sorry, there is very little reason to only look at the painting on half of your games. If you are using multiple identical save files, you should interact with a Lilycove painting on each one of them before hunting. Stagger these interactions, as the frame you interact with the painting will determine the new seed for that session (if all games interact with the painting on the same frame, their RNG seed will continue to be identical and this will fix nothing). Additionally, there are paintings in the Lilycove contest hall that serve the same purpose as those found in the Lilycove Museum (but they don't require a drastic amount of points in a master contest victory in order to create/interact with them).

What to do if internal battery ran dry?

I was under the impression that just having the event item isn't enough to trigger the event, is this true? If so how would I trigger the event? I plan to purchase all required hardware so I can do a "legit" shiny hunt for the event mons. Should I purchase a Japanese cartridge and system? Or will it be okay to purchase the English versions?
