I agree. These should not be time-gated. Aside from mobile game stuff, I cannot think of any game series other than Pokémon where it is impossible to unlock an in-game event after a certain real life date from real life events at specific locations on Earth. I personally found out about these events even existence years after they already happened and ended.

Exactly, its pretty crazy when you think about it. "So if weren't at this place, at this time, with this game, then I'm sorry you are blocked from getting this Pokémon, even though the area is already coded into the game. You new to the game or wasn't born yet then too bad haha!" - Pokémon Company It's even worse when you think they coded it onto all the other language games and never released an event for those countries. It's like what's the point lol

I think an easier/cheaper alternative to this is to jut get a DS, an R4 and the event injection tool. I did that for the Old Sea Map and the NPC never had any gibberish.

I mean that is always an option, just due to the legality of roms, I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a copy of that game, but at the end of the day, you do what's best for you.

I used a r4 with the event tools. Worked easier than I thought. The ds I used also has a broken screen and still got it with no problems

For some reason my GB Operator causes save files to be unusable by PKHeX and Mystery Gift tool whenever I backup save files from the cartridge now. The save files I already had on my pc still work fine, but whenever I back them up from the cartridge it won't let me do it. Pretty sure the GB Operator is adding something to the files that disallows me to do it because PKHeX will say Binary unsupported and Mystery Gift says invalid file. Also the Old Sea Map just will not work on my file. I hit the override but it just won't add them. I got the English versions to work perfectly fine. I had to make seperate save files for each though unfortunately.

After getting the Old Sea Map on my cartride with the GB Operator, I tried injecting an Eon Ticket afterwards and it's telling me to enable mystery gift first? I'm not sure why when I've just injected multiple event key items already. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Hi, are you still having issues with this? If you are, I can help. For emerald, make sure to inject form the one the says "Mystery Events" and it should work, just make sure you collect the most recent mystery gift. If it's still not working, message back.

Hi, thanks for the comment. So in theory yes you should be able to, as long as you can upload the saved emerald game to your computer, then you can still use the WC3 tool to inject the items but you still need to have unlocked mystery gift in your game. From what I've seen from the ez flash device, it should be easy enough to put it onto your computer, or you could download an emerald rom online and play until you unlocked mystery gift then add it to your ez flash.

I’m having some trouble with the injection. It is prompting me with “please enable mystery gift in the savefile”, when I have already done the link together with all and everything, so what’s wrong?

Okay, so when you start the game, can you see the mystery gift option, before you select your save? It should work, as long as it shows that on boot up, if it is and still not working, then I can try something else. Also is your game Ruby or Sapphire? It's a different code for them, I forgot to mention that in the video.

Yeah, from what I know there are a few other devices that also copy saves to pc. One option that is a cheaper alt is GBxCart RW that would also do the same job. I'm sure there are other devices that do this as well.

Okay, so just to make sure you click: Offical Event distributor (bottom right) -> Load Save File -> Select your save of emerald -> Override region (top right) - > then switch to Japanesse. The Old sea map should then become available and you can inject and save after that. If it still dosen't work, I'll give you an email where you could send me a copy the rom and I'll try do it for you. Let me know, if you get it working.

I'm pretty sure it's required to beat the game for the Nat dex/mew event, yet I don't see a lot of people mentioning that, but I still appreciate the tutorial (currently shiny hunting mew now by following your vid!).

So you can get the items before you unlock national dex but to do the events, you are right, its post game, I probably should have meantioned that in the vid. Good luck on you Mew hunt. Depending on the game, it will be the opposite lati of your game. Ruby - latias, sapphire - latios, emerald - the one you didn't pick when your mum asks you, after beating elite 4.

I was under the impression that just having the event item isn't enough to trigger the event, is this true? If so how would I trigger the event? I plan to purchase all required hardware so I can do a "legit" shiny hunt for the event mons. Should I purchase a Japanese cartridge and system? Or will it be okay to purchase the English versions?

Hi, Thanks for the message. For the main events, all you need are the event items. In emerald, you need to beat the main story and go to Lilycove harbour where you can go to each area. I'm sure it's the same for RS and FRLG (Vermilion city). Using the method in the video, you can use English or Japanese games to get the items. I'm 99.9% certain you can transfer shiny english mew up to Home cause it doesn't check for language, only if it's been hacked in or not and technically it's a wild encounter hence it's legal. I plan on making a Shiny Mew video, so I will transfer my English shiny one in that video to show that it is possible.

Are you still having this issue, what is the name of the file? Did it show like this?: Pokemon - Emerald Version (USA, Europe) I'd make sure it shows as a SAV file and not a SA1 file. If you hover the mouse over the file, it should say what one it is.

Yes it will. It's actually easier with a Japanese emerald because you don't have to override the region to Japan.

Yes, unfortunately you can't get old sea map in sapphire however you are still able to get the eon ticket with this method. I think the mystery gift code is different in Sapphire, but it should work.

There are other companies that make gba readers and it can transfer save files to computers, that'll work perfectly fine. I use GB Operator personally and I couldn't recommend it more. If you have any GBA carts, then it is great for playing/backing-up them.

This is by far one of the best and most informative videos out there thank you.! I want to add that on MAC OS I did have issues along the way and had to switch to windows. I am not completely done yet and was wondering if I could get some tips. I was able to successfully reach the eon ticket. Tested it on a emulator and saved there to try and add another the file. Following I tried to use that file to add the rest of special items.. however I get a invalid file when trying to open on testROM. I assume saving the the ROM is bad? I have rewatched and read all the comments if anyone can assist.

Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the feedback. I do my best to make the videos as easy to follow as possible. I haven't tested this method on a MAC OS, but if I get the opportunity to test it out, I'll make another video to go along with this one. Regarding the save issue, I tend to save over the file I was using when injecting and saving on emulator, but I make a copy first, just in case there are errors. When you save your game on the ROM, then turn it off and back on again, does it load the most recent save or does it create a separate save? Also when injecting, are you adding one or multiple gifts at a time? It will only let you add a mystery gift if you have collected the previous one. If your still having issues, then let me know and I can help.

This is when i would see a invalid file error. So I got to two gifts. Eon ticket + one other. It came out weird not exactly right. Most likely user error.

Don't worry, that won't stop the events from working, although if you shiny hunting, make sure to use runaway method because if you restart the game, you'll get repeated frames/Pokémon.

You would need to get the save file onto your computer first. You should be able to do this if you connect your phone to pc, you might need to search the phones files to find the save, it should be under a SAV.file. If you can find that, then you can do this method.

Yes because Mew is alrady in Emerald, all your doing is unlocking an item to get it. The Mew techically isn't cheated /manipulated into the game, meaining it won't get flagged when pass throguh the Home/bank checks. So in theory. you can get mew in Emerald and transfer it up to Scarlet +Violet if you want.

That is always an option, but I say use at own discretion. If you use GameShark to get the Pokémon, they most likely won't get past Bank/Home. You could use it to get the MG items, that is another way to get them past Bank/Home. It's up to you, this is just a way for people who don't have GameShark and want to hunt some gen 3 event mon.

iirc there's a method to inject data using the e reader and custom-made e-reader cards. Of course an e-reader these days would be much more expensive than this.

Well it may be possible, but I'm not aware where to get the e-reader cards for the events. I mean if you have an e-reader already, it's worth looking for one online, I just know this method defintely work and thought I'd make a video to make people aware of it.Tbh, if you can get a cheap e-reader from ebay, it might be less expensive but I personally think the gb operator is a more useful tool because you can save and emulate your games onto your computer, but that's my opinion.

Yes, beacuse the pokemon obtained is legitimate and not hacked in. Mew is in the game already but just behind a lock, being the old sea map item and because its caught in the wild, having random nature, Iv's, ect, makes the pokemon legit. When transfering up, bank and home will only check to see if the pokemon is illegal, i.e perfect stats, forced shiny, illegal moves.
