Hi, My name is William Nelson, I have been an environmental since 1969 and have discovered many confirmed solutions having to do with environmental problems, mostly dealing with preventing the spread of radiation. I have been to Chernobyl 3 times and have spent time within reactor # 4 and have solved some of their problems such as preventing the escape of Plutonium dust from escaping the Sarcophagus. During my research, I discovered a combustion rocket without a motor, not a solid-fueled rocket. Anyone interested?

When you are dealing for primal forces of such magnitude that require so many systems to control, you are asking for trouble. Doesn't matter how many backup systems you have, there is always that element that won't be covered.... For example, deliberate sabotage. What if half the workers were undercover terrorists gaining trust over many years to play the long game? What if the place was bombed? What if what if what if might sound like a long shot, but build enough reactors and spread them out over a long enough time frame, the chances of something going wrong multiply. Chernobyl happened because of a long shot unlikely event. A perfect storm of malfunctions, systems failing or being ignored and general hubris. When people say "That can't happen now" I shudder in fear

The problem never will be how safety it is. The real problem will be always how dangerous is the fuel used by every NPP in the world. Just a little Crack on that pool or a pipe, by accident, attack, earthquakes, etc, etc, even malfunction of a partial system!... exceeds a lot all the problems than security protocols to avoid those problems. All the countries with nuclear plants have faced hard problems. Canada would not? They get profit of worst known accidents to argue that they made a mistake or it was unbearable situations as Fukushima tsunami... And that is perfect to blame some others or other factors with complicated explanations. From the 50's many countries have thrown to the oceans tons of very dangerous debris from NPP. If Canada is on the list, be sure that this is from the bottom of ocenas, seas and coasts all over the world that it's an industry argument over a big big lie. NE Never will be clean or safety. Now they talk about fusion like a sun machine. Have you ever imagined what would it means an accident on this super clean energy? Well, to give you an explanation, just imagine 100M C° degrees few kms from your neirborhood, or more than that... It could also create fision reactions in the surrounded materials... Please, investigate everything about NPP and NE. You won't need more explanations from a boring person like me now.

Given reactors generate heat (even if it's just the decay heat), there must be some way to harvest that heat and use it to drive a semi passive cooling system like something based on a Stirling engine or even a thermoelectric generator that is just powerful enough to keep cooling water flowing... NASA has developed one that uses decay heat to power spacecraft... I do not know if they've launched anything powered by one yet, but perhaps a similar design could be made to actively cool a reactor using even just the decay heat for a few decades...

Could candu operate with supercritical co2 instead of d2o ,without steam generators???? Can the pipes handle co2 ?
@harrywynne283910 ай бұрын
There won’t be any portable generators or fire trucks after an EMP goes off. Whether these plants are EMP hardened or not, is not really critical, because many other nuclear plants are NOT hardened, and will malfunction and will melt down, and their fumes will disperse over the northern hemisphere. THAT is the problem to be solved.

I dont get the nuclear scare, for baseline power its our best option. We just need to make them safer and storage of waste fuel better. Miles below a mountain, aside from a direct strike from an asteroid, should be sufficient. And in the astroid strike case we will have bigger problems to worry about.

It's too bad that In the end Candu is just too expensive to run and maintain Westinghouse at Darlington seems to be the way of the future What are the 300 megs ? I was at Pickering for 34 years ,retube VB outage A side stator replacements the large crain ...wow !! OPG does it right and safely .It just sucks that Candu isn't viable in the long run .instability at times too ....U-3 was interesting but safely handled Good luck at Darlington ..4 Westinghouse .

3:48 That's not exactly a great statement. Its around 3% but 3% of 800MW is still 24MW, still extremely hot and EASILY capable of melting any solid material in the universe. Also, Zirconium is used as fuel rod cladding because it is Neutron invisible (Neutrons have extremely low chances of interacting with Zirconium atoms).

Nuclear waste is the negative isotopes left over after the positive half of the ions are used to power whatever nonsense man in 2024 deems neccesary due to a complete lack of knowledge on power generation. To dispose of this waste you need to emit a high frequency whistling sound which will seperate the combined waste, ideally you would take a small amount of waste and have it ran through a conveyor belt which emits sounds of high positive frequency. Basically whomever is in charge of this world and the stupidity you are the dumbest people of all time you need to step aside before you completely destroy everything.

For the record the nuclear reactor in Japan, had one of these safety backups, including the generators, the batteries, the water, condenser, even used the firetrucks and none of them failed to prevent the meltdown. There’s no additional safety procedures here which Fukushima did not have& try. It all comes down to training and proper EMERGENCY exercises. In absent of that, a meltdown is just as likely to happen here.
