Rubbish content. To think any of those restaurants would still be open without Ramsays intervention is delusional. You just extrapolated stats out of your ass. Secondly, any manager who is even slightly inept, would be able to put systems in place to maintain the ideas that Ramsay brought to the table. Was he supposed to hold their hands for the next 5+ years after the episode aired?

Hypothetically transitional not full time. Someone who can take all the teachings that just received put them into easy to understand/ learn systems and training manuals. Then teach management/ staff how to use and implement. THEN the owners/ staff truly have ALL the tools to survive. It’s completely up to them at that point. This situation is obviously an anomaly. Normally one team would see this entire process out RESUCE + SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

Maybe the show picks those places deliberately. The worse the restaurant is doing the more spectacular the show can be. Let's not forget the goal of the show is NOT to save restaurants (that's a means to an end), the real goal is the show itself. That's fine with me btw. I like drama on tv as much as the next viewer. Most of these restaurants aren’t even his fault, for example, sebastian’s, amy’s baking company, chappy, these restaurants failed because of the owner itself, they were too stubborn, egoistic, to accept gordon’s criticism , they most likely called ramsay to think that he would agree with them on everything

Its so hard to even slightly criticize Ramsay (look at the comments), or his shows. His audience are probably some of the most obnoxious people on the internet. If you even mention his history of being racist, fatphobic, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, lawsuits filed against him because he has physically attacked people on the job, etc. You get a bunch of people saying you're chasing clout and are jealous. You didn't even mention any of this stuff, though, and complimented him, and people still have a problem with it lol. Besides all of that it does not matter if Gordon did a good job, or not because once you show some disgusting restaurant on live TV for the world to see people simply won't want to come back even after its changed. For example, if you got sick at a restaurant would you go back even after they said it was changed, and fixed? Probably not. Now imagine rats, bugs, etc. Other restaurants have the luxury of it not being shown to the world before they fix their issues. Also if you look at Yelp reviews and other reviews for these restaurants when the shows air, they get tons of fake reviews from Karens who never went to the restaurants saying its bad usually saying things they saw on the show. I would also like to mention that the workers who are generally not the problem who are getting underpaid, overworked, and on top of that have to be in the TV show for free do not get paid. The restaurant owners get free publicity, a huge makeover, free equipment, pro chefs to train their cooks, etc. Meanwhile, the worker who got treated like garbage by the owner usually has to watch them get all this free stuff where the money ill not trickle down back to them. Both Gordon Ramsay and the producers are rich. Why can they not pay the workers for the free acting they do on the show? There is no legitimate reason, not one. Pay the damn waitresses, waiters, bus boys, chefs, etc. who provide us with free entertainment as well. This is a huge problem for reality TV in general. Overall it is not necessarily Gordon, or the Ownerse fault entirely when restaurants don't come back. Society has a very, "Never again," treatment when it comes to their food. It still doesn't change that Gordon is trying to fix things and make promises he know just won't happen. He's not stupid. Its entertainment at tis heart.

Clearly, you should've just failed on your own as a restaurateur.... Whats wrong with trying to help? Especially if you are grossly incompetent at a simple job that you are pretending to do? Why does gordon ramsays nightmares get so much attention? Because it celebrates the unfortunate under achieving fuck witts that can unwittingly poison someone But at least offers a bit of remorse, or recompense to shit business owners who seem to 'bathe' in the american dream. If im shit at something.... please let me know. If, as example, an actor complains and strikes as he only gets $4000 a year? Why dont you just understand that you're shit at acting? Fuck me! I agree, and I'm not placing anything negative on KN. I said in the video he does a great job revamping the place and his ideas are gold for them, but you need to have systems and procedures in place for the success to continue. He's providing them with a lot of high concept ideas which is great, but they need AT LEAST a guide that anyone could open, read, understand, and execute. In the real world at least. A lot of people have been saying "the owners got the information. now it's on them", and sure, you can look at it that way, but the reality is most people can't just take a couple of days of training and RUN. If that were the case then running successful businesses would be easy and a lot more people would do it. People need systems to fall back on. More importantly you should set people up for success by providing systems they can fall back on. It's not Ramsays or KN fault these restaurants failed. I'm just pointing out, at the end of the day, he's only giving them the first half of the piece of the solution puzzle.

The after should be up to the owners! Ramsay sets them on the right track, remodelling and training, a new menu and kitchen in some instances. Even leaving them with a chef to kick start things. People who have no business doing so should not get in to the restaurant business

You don't say what the restaurant is I'm sure for a reason. EVERY restaurant he went to says they have good food and they are run properly just like you have. Also, The National Restaurant Association estimates a 20% success rate for all restaurants. About 60% of restaurants fail in their first year of operation, and 80% fail within 5 years of opening. He does add systems. The problem is the owners don't follow through and go back to their own ways. Also, most of these restaurants are in dire straights financially so their success rate is going to be even lower. Most owners don't change. Some even go back to the way things were. Then when they fail they say Ramsey did it. No restaurants; your food isn't good; and there is no such thing as fresh frozen. Give me fresh, good food and I'll be back.

The 'success' rate quoted here is more complex than the simple evaluation you are giving here. I am a project manager, and know that coaches and facilitators can only do so much, there are so many variables, it is up to the individuals applying the training, to find success for themselves. Some people are leaders, some are followers.
@30RULE
@30RULE Ай бұрын
I completely agree on all fronts. That's why systems are necessary. You can't train someone in your ways over 2 days and expect it to (a) stick and (b) stay consistent over time. Consistency is one of the hardest things to instill. And don't get me wrong, systems don't guarantee a win because, to your point, it's up to the ownership to use the systems properly. But I can say that training an entire staff for 2 days without management even going through the training themselves, with no systems in place, is almost a guarantee for failure, or at the very least, they'll revert to their old ways because they can't properly grasp the new methods.

This is somewhat slanted, as it doesn't account for a ton of things in the statistics, and the conclusions drawn are simply faulty. It isn't wrong that the failure rate of restaurants on that show is very high, however. Ramsey isn't selling a golden ticket to a successful business. He sells advertisement, a potential path forward, and basic training. That's his job, and he tends to complete it. In return, he gets to profit off the restaurant's over-dramatized stories. He's no saint, nor a miracle worker, but the fault always lies with the owners of the restaurant. That's why they're the owners--they have responsibility for it. If your ex-partner decided to take the advice of a tv show over a real life partner, that's on them, not the tv show.

I agree 💯 on almost everything you said here but… advertising isn’t enough. If that were the case every restaurant would have a full time Facebook ads person. If you want to look for someone to blame for your business failures, look in the mirror: it's not Ramsay's, or anyone else's (other than yours) responsibility to make sure that you have the knowledge that you need to run a business, before you start it, and that you stay on top of it---Ramsay can help these guys, he can guide them, but he can't do it for them.
