In my youth I owned this album and even then I noticed that the quality of the recording didn't measure up. Too bad, nice song.

Echos is a real nice stage in the development of PF, where experimental soundwork meets melody. It's a pitty that they didn't stay longer in this creativ phase. There was no need to incorperate a sax or the three singing sirens. Lucky we are that there exists so many recordings and bootleds from the good old times of PF.

Not quite the original Pompeii sound but it doesn't matter how this song is played or sung,.. the Floyd always sounded ahead of their Time.What a musical treat for the emptiness of the Coliseum.

I was lucky enough to see this preformed live. End of first set 1972 2nd.Set was DSOTN. Went to the show to see echos DSOTM hadn't been released yet. Mind blowing. Modern Concert sound owes a lot to Floyd and the Dead. I hated when they were called sound shapers' This was my go to for a summer storm,driving in fog or in a fog.

You'll get there, brother. It takes some time but the journey is part of the experience. Talent comes from passion and practice, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Peace and love to you.

how are you doing after 2 years? i got a keyboard last christmas. started practicing simple songs (relatively anyway) by the carpenters,and the beatles. moved on to beethovan's moonlight sonata,and now going to try this one. bit by bit things come together. just as i think i'm going to give up something clicks and i keep going. hope your doing well.

amazing at how he was able to seemlessly come up with these structured and amazing pop hooks out of thin air and then resume his dabblings into musical chaos and experimentation

I appreciate your help, but it's very difficult to see what keys you're pressing since your hand covers it. It would be nice if you showed the chords you're playing so people can actually follow along.

Didn't Jim Pons redo the bass on 200 Motels replacing Martin Lickert's shoddy playing ?
@destroyernoah5 жыл бұрын
haven't heard that one but it would make sense, I know Frank had Arthur Barrow and Chad Wackerman redo bass and drums on We're Only In It For The Money and Cruising With Ruben And The Jets in the 80s though
@JammJonKiebon Жыл бұрын
Much of Martin's playing is on the album .F.Z actually plays bass on certain tunes that I guess were beyond his technical skill as Ringo's chauffeur.He did a great job considering he was put on the spot No way he could have learned all the material in time for the recording.That aside this is a gorgeous beautiful melodic pop tune with an incredible vocal arrangement/performance by Mark & Howard. Dunbar's drumming is sublime. More proof that the scope of this composer was close to limitless.
@andythomas7066 жыл бұрын
It's a fantastic vocal arrangement and Mark and Howie completely nail it. Possibly the lewdest 'round' ever recorded! What more can you ask for?
