Is anyone else brought to tears by the overwhelming beauty and power of this song? Am I alone, blinded by the brilliance of this quartet?

I was lucky enough to see this preformed live. End of first set 1972 2nd.Set was DSOTN. Went to the show to see echos DSOTM hadn't been released yet. Mind blowing. Modern Concert sound owes a lot to Floyd and the Dead. I hated when they were called sound shapers' This was my go to for a summer storm, driving in fog or in a fog.

One of the best PINK FLOYD pieces! I love it! PINK FLOYD has shaped the mind and the spirit of several generations and they still do. Their music is not just great music but so much more. If you listen to the lyrics there is no way not to be influenced to become a better human being. I wish so much to see David and Roger together again...

I find this version to be even better that the "pompei" one. In my ears it has even more feelings, more soul. But best of all, I love the fact that at the end of the second passage, Dave messes up with the lyrics! -- in fact I adore this mistake

I like this version too. but Pompeii Just with the video is Amazing. I would loved to see a video of pink Floyd of David Gilmour Pompeii, sinning Dogs.

I like "echoes" the best of all Pink Floyd tunes. Especially, I feel power and groovin' the most of Pink Floyd around 1970. Also their sound was shining !

I'm 19 right now, but I've never heard such a genious and impressive music than this!!! I grew up with this, much thanks to my father. I got so lucky when i saw roger waters performing the wall live in front of me, but I would give everything to see Richard Wright alive, performing with gilmour, waters and mason the song great gig in the sky at the funeral of my best friend, that's his last wish...

My fav pink floyd tune, from my fav PF album- I was born in '77 and never saw PF in concert... Thanks for posting this, it's as close to seeing them live as in their former glory as I will ever get. The most emotionally powerful band for me ever. Nobody has the balls or creativity to make amazing music like this anymore. I wish the members of PF could have put aside their pride and ego to just do what they did best, make beautiful sounds to share with others

Thank you for the download. I've never heard this version before. The music has a lighter(less serious) feeling than any other version I've come across. The distortion in Gilmours parts impart a "live" feeling in the sound as if the band didn't intend this version for posterity.

Great lyrics beautifully sung. All 4 members here are stellar. Changed from a spacey lyrical theme as Floyd did not like the Space Rock tag. It was always pretty spurious. The last verse is one which points where they were to go. What it is to be human. Always a satisfying listen. My year 8 music teacher introduced me to Floyd through playing this in a music appreciation class. Thanks for that.

Echos is a real nice stage in the development of PF, where experimental soundwork meets melody. It's a pitty that they didn't stay longer in this creativ phase. There was no need to incorperate a sax or the three singing sirens. Lucky we are that there exists so many recordings and bootleds from the good old times of PF.

Very Nice. I know their music is completely different, but listening to Floyd and The Doors always made me feel like I was free falling into the unknowable. The only 2 bands that have that effect. (Though Dave's slide sounds quite a bit like Robbie Krieger's)
