i love this town. It used to all run like clockwork: buisnesses were staying open; people were working; people were friendly'. But then after covid, buisnesses started shutting down, people were going unemployed, but the people are still alright(maybe just a bit crazy)

Bish Vegas was once the best night out in the North East, lots of money being spent, still long way to go. Sadly so many shops boarded up like most towns. Retail parks destroy towns.
@richlordtravels21 күн бұрын
Sadly many towns aren't what they used to be. Retail parks, online shopping, and other factors make life so much harder for town centre retail businesses. It's still a good town and there was lots to see for a tourist like me and I look forward to coming back again one day.

I don’t mean to be nasty but Blues last,what a surprise being a Villa fan. This is why Midlands fans dislike Villa. History wise and ground is number one and well deserved but you come over really arrogant. Villa are the biggest club in the Midlands and will be for a long time but you’ve won nothing for ages. The competition is weak though you are having a great run right now. How you can put Coventry above the Albion is unbelievable! A shitty arena against an historic ground like The Hawthorns is just taking the piss. Again you can’t put Blues below Walsall and that’s not to deny they gave a nice ground. You’re delusional,it seems you just want to highlight your own team. Wolves is a fantastic ground and again full of history. I’m a West Brom fan and I’m honest and sincere but you have just stereotyped what people think about Villa. Blues have had more recent trophy success. Wake up mate and don’t be so prejudiced. Good luck in the Champions league,you have earned that but you need to get a reality check. Coventry is a stadium arena not a ground. Mic drop🎤

Well, thank you for watching anyway even if you don't agree. I hope all West Midlands clubs look to improve all of their grounds and make the area something that we can all be proud of. I recently visited all the 10 Yorkshire football clubs and some of their grounds like Hull City, Leeds United, Huddersfield Town, etc. were great to walk round even on non-match days. Displays of previous great teams, statues of club heroes, blue plaques of moments to remember, displays of community involvement etc.. all make grounds locations to visit. Doncaster Rovers in particular had much of this when I went round the Yorkshire ones and I have no perceived bias around those clubs.

Full of Shit mate. BCFC are the only Midlands Team to win any Silverware this Century !
@richlordtravelsАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. I hope Blues get promoted as they have a lot of heritage and this they should be proud of, and as you say were the last WEST Midlands side to win something, Leicester may have something to say about the other side of the Midlands though! Other clubs had statues and something to see around the ground. I hope those are part of the plans for your new ground as increasingly grounds are becoming venues to visit and enjoy walking round. Wolves for example had 3 statues to see and were visibly proud of their past. Who would you want to see a statue of or a display of a particular era of one of your sides?

@@steveh31 Unfortunately a lot of places are heading that way too. Kirklees council seem to spend all brass on Huddersfield, and Dewsbury might get a loose bit of change to do up a pot hole or two. If you could put a town in a scrap yard, Dewsbury would be first on the list. Although I've seen better scrap yards, great video.

Council spends is a massive problem across a lot of the North of England, and they all seem to be stretched. It’s a shame when good towns aren’t how we remember them from 30-40 years ago. There is still a good spirit on the market and hopefully the vibrancy can have a new lease of life again in the future.

The few people who go around markets during the week have very limited spending such as pensioners. Some people want things given. Parking is a big problem. Notice all the yellow lines. Lots of parking restrictions in town centre with parking enforcement officers walking around. It's so much easier and safer to shop at supermarkets and out of town retail outlets. Local councils have for many years been starved of cash by central government and this doesn't help along with a lack of imagination.
@richlordtravels2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching, Ronnie. Markets play such a vital part of the lives of so many people, especially those not online. Let's hope that things improve socially and through the authorities to support market shopping and this important social outlet too.
