I have a high yield savings account at synchrony as well. My quandry is is it worth having it there. My emergency money is there and as you know it takes 5 days to get that money if I need it. I appreciate having the higher interest but knowing it takes that long for the money to get to me is making me think I might be better off keeping the money closer to home. Anybody have any thoughts?

I'm in my 3rd year as a part of this village. I use the save to sink method. I could write a small book on how my life has changed in the last year and a half since I finally figured it all out and embraced the method and buckled down. I have had 2 major emergencies and was able to pull from money saved without going into debt for it. I paid off lots of debt. I have an emergency fund fully funded at $1000 and working on my next $1000. God I could keep going. Sunday night lives are amazing when I don't fall asleep lol. Sorry I get up at 5 am. I have done everything on your list. I'm super determined this year to fully fund a good group of my sinking funds.

Awesome Donna! I am doing the same. 2024 was not a good savings month fo rus. 2025 will have medical so first thing it is going to be sinking. I love how you broke all this down. Another goal I have is to organize to plan. Caring for 2 is a HUGH JOB! Having disabilities slows me down. I need to plan it better. I do make menu plans, food inventory, to do, When did I last? ect. I just don't have it in a binder plan like the sink to save. I think you will be making one & I CANNOT WAIT!! You have been a blessing in my life for 3 yrs. A pray for you daily.OG

Is it better to pay off debt first or to save some money first? I have a debt that will be gone this year with just the minimum payments but should I save the money to knock that out completely then start saving again?
@taketime062614 сағат бұрын
I jumped in late 2024. I did save alot, and had to pull. Then I would pull each $25 to sinking funds leaving a prop money. I’m sorry I didn’t do the survey. But I am on board and excited to do this for the whole year!!🎉🎉🎉 whooo hooo. 🎉🎉🎉. Thank you ladies for doing this again this year!!! 😊

I've followed you for about 6 months. It's true about everything else the bank can have back but not your house. We didn't have an actual house payment 3 yrs ago, but we had a 19k heloc (um, yes, that the HOUSE secured). We slapped every dime on it we could, paid it off in 2023, then paid off the truck and credit card both on 7/26/24. It was so worth it. It feels like freedom! We save for everything now, we do use cc's but pay them off every single month. Love the affirmation, putting it out there is the first step!

I did not start sinking funds until we were debt free, so that is could pay off the debts faster and get rid of the interest (we are Dave Ramsey folks). I use a savings tracker for my sinking funds and the $$$ is in the credit union making me more $$

Donna is no holds barred Donna. If you are looking for someone that is going to sugarcoat things, you are in the wrong place. But if you are looking for somebody who will teach you everything that she has learned then join this village. You will not be disappointed ❤❤❤

Donna, you got this it’s totally do-able with the amounts you’re able to save regularly just tightening the budget up and maybe reallocating things.

I have been a part of this village for just over 1 year now and I can honestly tell anyone that the advice and guidance you receive works. Donna speaks about real topics and does it without talking down to anyone. Her methods can work for most income levels as long as you commit. In addition, there are so many other people in the village who have so much knowledge that there is almost certainly someone else in a similar situation to new comers who could also provide support and advice.
