I’m almost 83 years old now and still I cry softly when I heart this song. I think on my youth It is over now, my life is almost over. Only my memories are still there. O.m.g. I miss my youth times!!

In the restaurant scene does anyone know what those checkered waist bands the boys wore signified? I was born in the 40's and can remember older guys wearing them on dates, etc., but never knew what that was about. Some kind of fad?

I've never heard this before but I love it. The statler Brothers were in a leag of their own with their harmoney and ability to sing truly relatable, touching, memory invoking songs. No one now is even remotely close and few could ever come close.

On my wife and mine 50th anniversary, our children and our grandchildren had a real nice celebration for us. My wife and I danced to many of our favorite songs, and this one was the last song we danced to on that very special day., but we didn't make it through the dance. We just stopped dancing and held each other with tears streaming down our cheeks as the song played. It's also the last song we danced to in this life, as I lost her two weeks later due to a massive stroke. This song has special meaning to me and it always brings tears to my eyes.

Love this video. Where did they find all these pretty gals? This song brings tears to my eyes when Jimmy sings "and I just thank the Lord above for you each day". I almost married someone who would not have been good for me. Instead I met and married my soul mate, and that was over 50 years ago now. Thru thick and thin, we're still together. Thanks for posting this song.

Brings back so many GREAT memories of my first love "Janice Hodge". I let her get away and it was my fault for the breakup. I still think about her almost every day even though it has been 53 years ago! Went on and married someone else, that marriage lasted only 3 years. Ohh how i wished i could go back and relive my life!

Let me ask you, I think I remember you and the girl "Janice Hodge" that you were crazy about. Did you go to a small church Bethel Baptist in Mills River, NC. I remember you telling me that she moved away, and you were very upset, and you were crying telling me the story. Would love to talk to you

During my first marriage, this song came out, and I attributed it to our marriage & love, because I had loved him so much!! We went to see the Statler's whenever we could, and I think I still have many of their albums. We were headed to our State Fair in September 1982, where they were to perform, and we received a phone call, that my brother had died in a car wreck, so we didn't go to the Fair. A few years later on Memorial Day, I went to the Cemetery where my brother was buried, and behold, the Statler's were singing thru out the cemetery over the intercom, and I knew then that my brother knew, that I was there. Six years later, my husband cheated and wanted a divorce. He married another woman (diff from the affair), and claimed this song as "their song"!! My daughter was furious!! I will always love the Statler's regardless, and hope they sing to me & my daughter, when we get up there!! 💐✝️👍💕
