Whyyyyy. This is so stupid. Double down on development and software. Microsoft cannot and will not make updated models fast enough to keep up with the current market. Develop a store and an apparatus to rival steam. Perhaps ONLY Microsoft is suited to do that. Then make certain minimum spec requirements of manufactures like asus and aya Neo and so on…. Why ever waste money making hardware when everyone but steam is making the hardware for Microsoft already. So so dumb.

Handheld is nice. But that is a different competition now. But also they are gonna go with Amazon TV fire sticks. I feel like Microsoft is spreading themselves too thin 😂

I've seen this clips, I don't believe at all that xbox will make a fully locally hosted handheld. I would be shocked if it isn't a cloud handheld knowing Xbox. Even if it was local, getting developers to want to create for this significantly underpowered hardware with an extremely niche user base would be impossible. You can't play gamepass games either while offline so this would essentially mean gamepass is inaccessible on a plane or somewhere without internet even if it is local. I honestly don't get the point of an xbox handheld unless it's just a direct steam deck competitor and can play PC games as well.

As long as it doesnt run windows, I'll buy it. I've known about EVERY SINGLE xbox handheld rumor since before google existed. You could say this is important to me. That isn't an exaggeration. Anyway, I love my steam deck but Windows is a poop sandwich in a handheld. Chop up a series s, strap in a battery and a screen and some buttons and my house will buy at LEAST 3.

Unless it does something to beat the Steamdeck, it's a horrible idea. But doesn't surprise me that some CEO/VP has bad ideas. I suppose they have the xbox exclusives, but no way in hell I am going to waste money on ANY console just for exclusive games. PC gaming is so much better overall and no reason to waste money on consoles for just a few games that you can't get on PC (for now).

They should make a Onexplayer X1 Micro that is the perfect size of the joysticks and make it more portable, would be interesting

At 11:45, the reason they're not just releasing with what they have is because they promised a ton of stuff and they're trying to actually include a lot of what they promised. Kind of opposite of what FDEV did with Elite Dangerous, where they made some bold promises during the Kickstarter but then did not include those features. A lot of people give FDEV a pass just because they say Elite released, but they did not fulfill what they promised backers. A lot of people continue to give CIG money because they actually are trying to fulfill those promises and with each patch they are getting closer and closer to fulfilling all of those promises. You could have played the game for free for two weeks to see what's there and what they have added.
