So I was super excited when I saw you bought the same model - Ottawa. I just had Steve Kling out today and love watching what you're gonna do next. My wife is moving down in the fall - I'm elsewhere on a military deployment. We're next door in Dabney - keep up the good work!

Thanks so much and welcome to The Villages! We appreciate your feedback and we are so thankful that what we have shared is helpful. We hope to record a home tour later this week, so stay tuned. We are meeting a growing number of retired military families here and we are making notes for a video about the advantages of retiring to TV for veterans/military retirees. Let us know if you and/or your wife need anything and also if at some point you want to meet for coffee, ice cream, etc. Our email is [email protected]. We will keep you and your comrades in prayer for a safe deployment and a speedy return home.

I enjoy watching most of the videos people make about golf carts, But yours stinks, you stumble around trying to find your words. Also reconditioned is still a used cart. I bought a used Yamaha G2 and went thru it mechanically and added lights and all the safety equipment to make it street legal. PTV is a personall transport vehicle, and a seperate class that you can get from most manufacturers.

Your golf car is alot like what I had in mind for us. We haven't had a chance to start shopping for them. My question is how long is your golf car front to the back bag holder? I'm not sure our garage has enough depth in the golf car space.
@thevillagesnatives3491
@thevillagesnatives3491 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment and great question. Our Golf Car is 112 inches (9 ft, 4 in.) long and our Golf Car Garage, which is one of the shortest in depth, is 158 inches (13 ft., 2 in.), so plenty of room for our car. I have not seen a model that would not accommodate our Golf Car, but that might be possible. What model home do you have? Hope these dimensions help, and let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great 4th of July.

Trivia Q: Is it golf cart or golf car??? Have to ask 'cuz I wanna talk like a Village native 😅😊!!! Your new ride is beautiful❤❤. (Hmmmm, I wonder if MWR will have a surplus sale 😅😅😅 It is probably the only one we can afford😅😅)

Thanks so much and our answer is: Golf Car, well according to our dealer and The Villages Golf Car Store. I see them as interchangeable but here they are treated much more like a personal transportation vehicle and golf usage seems to be secondary in my observation. When you get here get what you can afford when it is right for you. I see quite a bit of older golf cars and they get folks to the same places that the new ones do. MWR Surplus Sale, most definitely! Have a great 4th of July!

@@thevillagesnatives3491 Right on 👍.. A golf cart , is more geared for driving around the golf course, With equipment needed for a round of golf..ie, Bag holder on back , drink holder, sand bottle , ball holder, scorecard ,holder ..etc. A golf car.. more geared for driving on cart paths, neighborhood roads etc, and the equipment package is more safety friendly, upgraded lighting, seats, seatbelts, turn signals, etc…🛺

Thanks so much for your great work here! Just one thing to mention is that many people who own electric vehicles feel that range anxiety is not really a thing... unless they are travelling long distances. With a golf cart you can do one thing you can't (easily) do with a car... buy a bigger battery. However, I do agree with all your logic and think you made a good choice. Most important is doing your homework for your needs!
@thevillagesnatives3491

Thanks for your comment and very keen observation. I looked into one of the electric golf cars but the battery from the manufacturer did not offer an acceptable range for me. I do admit to being over cautious, so personality does impact these decisions. I think that if/when we need another golf car it will be electric. Thanks again and have a great 4th of July.

Just a curious question as a possible future resident. Does your cart have shoulder straps as part of the seat belts? If not, can those be upgraded on golf carts? I notice in some videos that certain golf carts lanes merge in with car traffic. I think I would feel safer with shoulder belts. Thanks.
@thevillagesnatives3491
@thevillagesnatives3491 6 күн бұрын
Thanks and that is a great question. The Evolution D5 Ranger 4 seater does have the three point seatbelts, and actually I think Michael and Tiffany with The Villages Experience KZbin channel purchased one of those and a big reason was the shoulder seatbelts. They did a few videos on their purchase and seem very happy with it. In many areas here golf cars ride alongside traffic on main roads (30 mph or less) and within neighborhoods we ride with the traffic. Hope this helps!

Also consider adding an Apple AirTag (to find your golf cart in the parking lot at the square after dining or listening to the band). Also have one on my car AND my eBike All those parking lots are huge and look alike 🙄 My wife & I walked through THREE parking lots one night after listening to the band. That did it for me … Ordered Apple AirTags on Amazon the next day

Thank you for your videos!We just discovered you as we headed to TV for our lifestyle visit. We planned to seriously consider TV next year but as best laid plans go, we did a thing! My husband took a big gulp of that kool-aid and we will be back to meet with the designer team late July on our Oriole in Shady Brook! I’m excited but panicking a bit. Your videos are a great help as we work through this process. I think one of the biggest concerns is moving to a completely new area with no support system and not knowing the “lay of the land”. Don’t have your military practice with that! Thank you so much for the info on your painter - really noticed that while looking at models that the color can change with the light. Keeping that tip for sure!!

Thanks so much for your encouraging comment and we are so excited for your new home in Shady Brook! Sorry for the late response today; we have had a busy few days. We were just down in that area last weekend and it is really taking shape well. We are glad that our videos are helpful, but we understand that it does bring up a lot of concerns. Are you on Facebook and if so have you looked for Groups of homeowners in Shady Brook. We found this very helpful in our transition. Will you be moving down full time or part time? I also became a member of the forum Talk of the Villages. I found that I could sift through and get some good information and discard some things that were unhelpful or too negative. I am planning a video to share some key connections that most people don't tell new residents but that I found via trial and error. I think the best advice that I have been reflecting on lately is to take it slow and allow ourselves time to develop our pace. It feels like a sprint at the beginning but it is truly a marathon, but a lot more fun and with much less pain. Fun fact, not very far from the Village of Shady Brook is the actual Shady Brook where I spent many a summer day swinging from a rope into the cool waters. I have not heard officially that there is a direct correlation but TV actually uses many local places of interest in their naming. Again, we are excited for you guys and please let us know how we can help and shoot us an email ([email protected]) when you are down if you would like to meet for lunch or coffee.

Thanks so much for your comment and yes we most definitely are going to do that. Our main question has been when do we do a home tour because to us it still seems incomplete because we have a slower pace with our upgrades. Our initial desire has been to show our home when it is "complete", but it might be better to show it in stages of progress so that others can experience the journey with us. Thanks for your encouraging suggestion and let us know if you would like to see the development in stages.

I enjoy your videos, April seems so sweet, like someone I’d like to hang out with 😊 Question- with the houses that have been struck by lightning recently, are you thinking about getting a lightening suppression system (aka lighting rods)?

@thevillagesnatives3491 16 күн бұрын
Thanks so much and so glad that they are helpful. April loves to socialize; just let us know when you visit and she and I (if you like) would love to meet you and get to know you. Yes, the lightning is a major concern. We have Duke Energy and they offer various levels of support in dealing with lightning and we opted for the whole house surge protection. It is a whole home device placed between the electric meter and the home and it costs about $10 per month. With this service we also get financial reimbursement if we have a loss of motors or compressors up to a certain limit. So far this has been very helpful. Most electricity providers in this area offer similar services, so I would definitely check into it. Thanks so much and have a great week.

YES!!! Anno Domini AD and Before Christ BC. Advice (take it or leave it...) others have You Tube channels, but NO ONE has YOUR You Tube channel. All of TV YT channels have Q & A, because the answers help their subscribers. You have a unigueness, in that the two of your are HOME. You have an insight into the history that other TV YT channels do not. Also you are prior military, you understand moving and change (Ugh.....one more time for us and cant wait😊) Take us on a tour of your hometown, give us your opinion, and help us to learn. It is better to put out a short video consistently rather than a long video inconsistently. You can also do shorts on YT that are about 1 or 2 mintues long. If you keep up with it, you'll find your pace and what people like from the analytics. So glad you are running into you YT family (makes all the editing worthwhile😅)

Did you purchase your home for the Floorplan or the Village first? What is the sq feet on your home? I like the model but thought it was closer to 1800
@thevillagesnatives3491
@thevillagesnatives3491 16 күн бұрын
Great questions, our priority was floorplan and then Village/location because we spend the overwhelming amount of our time in our home. Our home is 1886 sq feet and we have not seen any of the models with this floorplan (Ottawa, Indigo, Oriole) less than 1886 sq feet, but we have seen some Indigos that were "stretched" with more sq feet. Hope this helps, thanks so much and we really like this floorplan. The separation of the 2nd and 3rd Bedrooms, the utility room configuration and the 3rd Bath are key features for us.

Thanks for the video, I have a million and one questions like I'm sure you two had when you were thinking about the move. First off my husband and I have never been to TV before, but hopefully in the near future! We were suppose to close on our commercial property next week, but it got pushed back to July 31, so we have to wait some more 😥 My first question is, how do you go about setting up the utilities, like the water, gas, electric, cable/internet do you have to call the companies or does your sales agent help you out with all that information. It seems overwhelming to do all those things and also to set up residency in Florida since we are from Wisconsin. Those are a few of my questions. Thanks again for your videos and your dogs are adorable!
@thevillagesnatives3491
@thevillagesnatives3491 16 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching and for your great comment and questions, and we wholeheartedly suggest even a short visit in person to gain the experience of The Villages before you purchase. There are a lot of rentals available for any length of time and many people will rent for a while, get acclimated and then purchase. Sorry about the delay in your closing and hopefully all goes well from here. Thanks for your questions and we definitely have to address them in an upcoming video because they are so pertinent. We purchased a new home so in our discussion with the sales department they gave a list of all the utility companies for our village and we had to contact them, some online and some via phone, to set up service. This is not as difficult as it first seems, and we found everyone very helpful. Residency is mainly regarding vehicle registration and drivers license. You have 30 days in Florida to get your drivers license and vehicle registration, so that gives you a bit of time to get unpacked and oriented. We will incorporate these questions into our upcoming videos, thanks so much.

Thanks so much for your encouraging comment and I wholeheartedly agree with you about April and the pups; I am a lucky man! Food stores/Groceries and Florida drivers license and plates are great topics, thanks so much for them. We retained our Florida residence and licenses all through our military service so it wasn't something that we had to do, so we haven't thought about that yet. Your can lights should be LED. If in fact they are hot as you mentioned then they must be incandescent. Changing them out to LED is extremely cheap and really as easy as screwing in a lightbulb. Then you will have cool practically free lighting.

We plan to have that painted/stained to match the driveway when we have that done in the future. Again, thanks so much for your great question.

Are you considering gutters for the entire house? Thanks.

Great question, and thanks for sharing. Yes, we did have gutters installed around the whole home. We chose the 6 inch gutters because of the heavy rain we get here. We are really happy with the result.

The indigo and the ottowa are actually the same model. The difference is that the Indigo is a designer home and the Ottawa is a Veranda. So which you have depends on whether or not you have an enclosed courtyard.

Great ideas. Since you guys are from Leesburg, family gatherings are plentiful (plenty of times and plenty of people). Whole house is probably your first to do because it saves pipes, appliances, bathroom surfaces, and your skin. Sounds like you have several renovation videos in the future. We are happy to accompany the two of you on these endeavors. Our retirement was delayed by 6 months, so now looking to moving to FL in 2025!🎉❤😊 Congrat on the 1k family!!!

Thanks so much and we are looking forward to sharing the upgrades for sure. Yes, I think the water filter system is probably going to the head of the line. Did you see the Villages Newcomers video this week? On Bubble Wrap they changed the filters; I was very surprised! Sorry to hear about your delay and we will keep you all in prayer for a smooth transition from here. Keep us updated on your progress. Thanks again!

Make sure you check with the CDD before you paint the outside of your house. There's a list of approved colors that you can choose. You can not choose a color not on the list.

Thanks so much and we are aware of that requirement. We definitely need to go over the Architectural Review Committee guidelines in one of our videos. Your comment has helped me remember to get the list; thanks so much and have a great week.

Thanks so much and we are so glad that our ideas are helpful. No, Abbie and Alle are from different parents about 4 months apart. I think we sent the wrong message by calling them puppies; they are actually both 10 years old. We just have a habit of calling them puppies. Thank you for your kind words about them; they are wonderful companions and true members of our family. Have a great week!
