Everything swapped as should be and won't power on...any suggestions?

It's a terrible design, the wire runs over the fire pit. It's yoders way of keeping their hand in your pocket. You will need a new one ever 2 years.

Just to point out the BS complainery of this comment, my 2015 YS640's thermocouple just died for the first time in October of 2024. Over 9 years, and the replacement parts are easily available so I can fix it and nobody is trying to sell me a new smoker. That's not keeping their hands in my pocket... that's outrageously good long term product support.

You were fortunate to have yours last that long. I replaced mine after 4 years. The one I have now is on its last legs, so every 4 years I'll be getting a new one. Thanks for pointing out my comment was bs. It was very helpful.

Hi Brian, I'm in the market for this cooker. I am wondering, since the lid is only a 12 gauge steel, do you experience any paint bubbling from direct high heat in the areas where you usually have your fire? I am contemplating whether i need to reinforce those areas by welding another plate of steel on the inside of the lid.

Ok fine I'll add a comment. It's a dope Pell grill, built like a mini tank and heats well. I noticed that it soars above 350 to 390 when first starting for some reason and takes a while to come down to set temperature. Also when trying to cut my YS640s off via the app, it says it will but it doesn't, nor was I able to address the temperature via the app. In all fairness I just received my unit Literally yesterday so I have some figuring out to do.

I think this goes a long way in showing just how much this company takes pride in their product. They are the BEST because its AMERICAN made... America 1st!!! I think a smaller single magnetic sticker would be nice as well. Just place and stick... Maybe Yoder Smokers would make it personalized with the owners name or BBQs company name along with the YS logo... Very nice Yoder Smokers!!!

The Thermocouple has a potential of going bad. It relays the temps to the brains of the Yoder. A bad one will report incorrect temps OR no temp at all. Some owners report never having to replace theirs. Some buy a spare to have on hand. It's not fun to go and start your Yoder for a big cookout only to find that the Thermocouple has gone bad. I've had mine for 3 years and have had no issues. I may buy one shortly just to have it.

Looking for some experienced advice please. I have owned a traeger lil' tex for over 14 years. It has been great. It needs to be repaired so I'm done with it. Time to upgrade. I am looking at the YS1500 since i have lots of people interested in placing orders when i smoke meats. I am wondering how the YS1500 works out for small cooks? Say, one chicken at a time or a single salmon filet? Something like a midweek after work just feel like a quick half a chicken quick cook. Does it work on such a large smoker or do i need to just toss the small jobs on my 2 burner Weber? Thank you for sharing!
@House_of_Q5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, Just saw your question... The YS1500 is awesome and like many cookers, it performs best when somewhat full. Can you cook a small amount? Of course! However it uses the same amount of fuel as a full cooker thus the efficiency consideration when doing a small amount of food. Hope that helps and the reply wasn't too long in the waiting...
@TheChrismsanchez15 жыл бұрын
@@House_of_Q thank you very much for your input. I have been doing lots of homework before stepping up. I understand the larger volume will require more time to get to temperature. What i have been reading/watching is the pellet usage isn't a significant difference between the 640 & 1500. I now just need to determine the cost vs actual cook surface usage on a regular basis to see if the extra cost for more real estate will get put to use enough to justify the expense. Thank you again for your time. Keep those videos rolling! They are extremely helpful in more ways than you think. Regards, Chris

FWIW when I bought my 640 I was also looking at 1500 for the money you can buy 2 640 no comp cart for price of 1 1500. With 2 pits u can run 2 different temps for different meats and different end times. Unless u are filling the 1500 with orders I thought 2-640 would make better sense for me. Good luck I know you’ll be happy with either

Used a putty knife to scoop out all the grease/fat/food particles on the bottom and mopped up some of the liquids with paper towels. It's not perfect but much better. Didn't know if that would have interfered with my smoking flavors or with other foods but figured I would clean it out of there.

I purchased a YS640 earlier this summer and have smoked and grilled with it multiple times. I love the YS640, however, the last week or two after grilling with grill grates and removing the drip tray for direct grilling (exactly as shown in this video) I have a build up of grease on the bottom of the pit. Recommendations on cleaning?
