Never seen an automated train before. I was wondering, Does the driver need to manually switch between manual and automation, or does the auto system take over when it starts working? Obviously I realise the drivers need to manually take control in an emergency situation, but I was wondering about when the system stops working. Additional question, Is it possible for the train to depart without the driver? I've if she were to step off the train for some reason

Their two way works pretty well in the trans-bay tube with the Radiax coaxial. Signal is clear no white noise/static. I believe the changed to a digital system from the previous Motorola analog and later GE/Ericksen systems.

1) The portion of route from Balboa Park to Daly City is truly BART. . . 2) The portion of route from Daly City to the tunnel portal just after Colma is London's Underground. . . 3) The portion of route from the tunnel portal and stations (South Francisco and Tanforan/San Bruno) is definitely more of WMATA than MARTA. . . I have made these comparisons because of the numerous railfan videos featured, the only rail systems that's come to my fruition is WMATA during my visits to Washington DC (1992-2005), MBTA during my visits to Boston (1990-2X-2005), and SEPTA during my visits to Philadelphia (1989-2005).

7:20 if the train is doing 70 and they cant catch the cars on the highway, those are cars REALLY flying.
@kevinhoward95932 жыл бұрын
I like how the train glides to a stop. it most other subway lines they fly into the station at 55mph and have to slam on the brakes to stop. i think SEPTA uses the same gauge track. why is the train holding its speed back? says they can go 80 but it wont go past 65.
@lookatthestars11012 жыл бұрын
Assuming the extra leeway is there in case they need to make up lost time to get back on schedule, but they plan the timetable according to 65mph
@Rubycon992 жыл бұрын
I don't think any US trains use the same gauge. It's Indian railway gauge. The system was designed by aerospace engineers rather than rail engineers so they made a few unusual design choices.

@@RohanTuli ;( that stinks but can you try doing a cab ride from the back or front from Embarcadero to Glen park. And also the one from embarcadero to rock ridge I actually am curious of what the tunnels are like in the cab ride without it being cut from the video due to how slow the train is.

I thought BART was automated. Why is there an operator?
@RohanTuli3 жыл бұрын
The automatic train control system craps out a lot. They're also there for emergency situations that the automatic system wasn't designed to handle.
@Rubycon992 жыл бұрын
They open/close the doors and make annoucements (although on the new trains they have recorded ones).

Its semi-automatic, there are some underground tracks that require manual operation when needed. Also should an accident happen, they’re the point of contact for an emergency.
