I don’t really build bases, I really just use my freighter for everything since there really isn’t anything you can’t do. It’s basically a mobile base

Tried the white series 7 ship but it wouldn‘t even load in for me. No matter how many bases I reported and also after saving and restarting the game. Theres simply no ship. If I try to put down my own base, it tells me that there‘s already one

Questions: 1] Does this still work and 2] is is supposed to work in an Expedition game ? I'm asking because I just tried to get number 2 from the video and it won't work: the ship is a ghost and I can't touch it. I tried reloading and tried no & both options in the emergency beacon at the site.

I haven't tried taking any specific ship during expeditions, so it might be due to that, however did you make sure you were in single player mode (multiplayer option on disabled), BEFORE entering the system? be it via portal or otherwise? As far as I know your first contact with the system generates it for you, and if you're in multiplayer you can lose a ship or multitool (not sure if other players take it before it, or you somehow get the version of the system that another player already generated). Either way, that's the main issue with getting specific ships.

Have you ever jumped to the center of a galaxy without using a portal? I did it in the euclid galaxy. It took countless hours and hundreds of warp cells to do it. I even did it without exploits. It sure gives you an idea how big the galaxies actually are.
