Zappa was brilliant. We need artists like him today to fight those nazis who think they know more about life and morals than us.

Frank Zappa was a true genius. It's soothing to listen to him speak here amidst the chaos and insanity blathering all around him while he calmly holds the center together.

I saw these guys fronting Frank Zappa's group, AND THEY WERE ALL INCREDIBLE!!! Light years ahead of anybody but maybe Mahavishnu. And that, from a guitarist/musician of 63+ years. And that drummer looks and plays a LOT like Dino Danelli of the Rascals ...

I hate to say it, but it's a great pop song and if he wasn't in that frame of mind of trying to middle-finger the record label and had reigned in the "silly" parts of the lyrics (as he put it, not me) it might be an even better song, from a songwriter's POV. But that's the psychotic music biz. Great middle eight on this tune.

I didn't realize the 'left' 'journalist' on Crossfire was a CIA official. And Zappa was older than the men on either side of him. As he emphasized, focus on the words.

He was right about the US becoming a fascist theocracy. A minority wants to dictate morality for all even when it violates the constitution. Today Freedom of speech is under attack. Lame Stream Media will fully promote the Governments narrative. Social Media bends to the will of the government and censors what does not fit their narrative.

They kinda condescend the intelligence of the founding Fathers. They were very aware of what they were doing, they themselves could be considered as having the sort of bravado mentality that could see a sort of adventurous appeal in risqué material. Perhaps the Declaration was done and meant in a speculative fashion. Theirs was an age of political experiment and innovation. From Locke to Hobbes to Marx to others. The declaration was never meant to be the formation of one big church. Zappa is right about the tendency of the right towards Anglo-saxon religious values, rituals, and institutions. The thing about rock musicians: not everyone is one. No rock musician tells anyone to do anything or think anything. Ask Cannibal Corpse.

Imagine you are so ignorant and afraid of a word's meaning, evoking power or form of utilization that you decide your government should ban it outright, instead of learning! History has taught us that building solid walls between that which we are and that which we aren't solves nothing, and only ends up creating more problems. The capacity for complex communication is humanity's defining quality! More so even than our raw intellect. To mutilate a language is to sever our collective human potential. It's devious, how modern demagogues will snuff out "problematic" terms, not through censor or taboo, but through agreeable labels (such as: "don't use this word, for it is too historically charged;" "this word has deep political connotations;" "this word is offensive in some contexts, thus it is offensive in all contexts, thus it should never be used") and by distracting us with newfangled words and portmanteaux. It is up to the general speaker to decide what terms to use and when! It is up to the common people if they want to become good or bad communicators! Letting others tell you what to say, and what words to say it with, is not just lazy; it is abhorrently self-destructive.
