I loved Red Skelton. I was blessed with a Mom who took me to see Red Skelton in concert when he came to Boston, MA. He was everything that you would think he would be. I loved Red Skelton, but I loved my Mom even more for taking me.

Everyone talks about how brutally honest he is. Id say hes more of an open book and blunt. He will very often, at different points of his life, lie about things that hes either in denial of, or truly doesnt recgonize at the moment. (Hes claimed his dad NEVER laid a finger on him, hes promised that landy never abused him, hes been on record for absolutely loving or hating mike love). You gotta take what he says to a certain persoective, and how hes doing mentally or emotionally. His answers BLATANTLY change and vary in range based on mood.

It’s crazy to think of how abusive that doctor was, but also is the reason he kept living. Hard to reconcile.

Thank you posting this. I had neighbors who were in their 80s. They married late in life. They were from the same home town but reunited in California where they got married. When he was sick, dying in the hospital, she told him she'd be ok, don't worry. When he passed she collapsed and passed 2 days later. I'll never forget her last words, i can't go back to that lonely apartment.

I love his innocence and honesty, more than childlike(children lie at times) Glad he got rid of Landy that scum… and set himself free. He’s a survivor and a musical genius It’s rare that we come across and experience such a kind, and humble human being as Brian Wilson. Thank you for the good vibrations

Holy shit. Brian Wilson’s dad beat him with a 2x4 on the right side of his head and “destroyed his hearing”. I always had this subtle judgement towards The Beach Boys and Brian specifically because of his disdain for releasing their music in stereo. I always assumed it was the result of a purist mentality, a kind of reluctance in the face of change in how records were made at the time. But that story puts so much into perspective. Brian could really only hear in mono. That’s how he heard music, how he loved music, how he made music. I can only describe what I feel as contrition. I’m sorry Brian, I had no idea. Your music has given me more than you’ll ever know and I thank you for that gift.

What's strange is over the decades, he's given 3 different stories about the hearing loss in his right ear. He said he was born that way and that his parents noticed him as a child always favoring/leaning in with his left ear. Another story says a kid down the block he used to play with poked him in the right ear for some reason, damaging his hearing. Then there is this story about his father whacking him with a 2x4. I wonder which is true.

@@garrethboland 3 different stories huh? propably the truth, what Landy wanted him to say and what Melinda and the other leeches wanted him to say. good luck assigning which one is which.

I also heard the kid down the street named “seymore” (he didn’t know of it was his first or last name) and this seymore hit him with a lead pipe. Odds were it was murry.

Played this same song at Mentor Memorial Junior High school in 1979. Great peice of music. It used to be the thing to record the local high school bands and make records. This is a small school about 10 miles east of Cleveland Ohio with an an excellent music department.

I love the way Hazel used to push his buttons every which way but loose. And the way Hazel would put a muzzle on Deidre when was spouting off about how privelleged she is,. Funnier yet is how her henpecked husband quietly laughs his ass off the whole time.
