Certainly compares interestingly to that other weird EPL mod. Schindler in WLG, where they left the chimes alone... alongside the entire COP and LOP, with the indicators the only things that changed.

Yep, indeed. Schindler definitely fleshed this mod out more....although it could just be a case of the Willis Street one needing new indicators and nothing much else, as those EPL dot-matrix indicators don't have a tendency to last, for whatever reason…

I'm not a fan of the detailing around the lifts. The black granite feels over the top and clashes with the overall design. The rare Dewhurst buttons are really disappointing-they look like cheap knock-offs and don’t complement the Schindler 5400 APs at all. Replacing the buttons with authentic Schindler buttons would have been a much better choice, as they would have provided a more cohesive and polished look.

I really like the new renovations done in the lobby, they’ve definitely enhanced the space. However, I didn’t see the need for a full upgrade of the lifts. From what I could tell, it looked like the Dewhurst components had been replaced recently. Maybe addressing the doors and exterior call buttons would’ve sufficed instead. My only real issue with the new lifts is the placement of the indicators-they're now recessed in with the doors rather than above the outside call buttons, which makes the lifts feel somewhat disconnected from each other.

@@Im_Jay45 I’m inclined to agree. While I quite like the new lifts, it did come fairly out of nowhere, and I’m not sure 3300s were necessarily the *_best_* choice - I was fully expecting 5500s. The LOP indicators on the door frame appear to be standard for this 3300 EU model, though the Ramada by Wyndham hotel’s 3300 EUs have their LOP indicators as a separate unit above the doors so the customisation was clearly there.

3:40 For those of y’all wondering what I "just realised"… that piece of classical music playing in the background is the *exact same* as one of the selectable pieces in the 2023-24 syllabus for the ABRSM Grade 8 piano exam! (B:3 - “Juin: Barcarolle” by Tchaikovsky.) I was just *very* surprised to hear it playing elsewhere too, and I wasn’t sure whether or not to spill the beans on-camera 😅

I love the old destinations, to me I love the aesthetics of it. I don't know if these are from the 2000s or the early 2010s.

@@Samuelselevatorchannel It’s hard to tell, and there doesn’t seem to be any info online about when *_exactly_* the Compass mod occurred, but the oldest documented clip of these elevators is from 2013 (by Alex, naturally) and they were already OTIS Compass by then.

Nice! I don't mind this mod tbh - while I'd defo prefer the old rare OTISes destination dispatch is just cool regardless of the setting, though yeah this particular system does seem to be running a little bit like an old laptop at the minute XD I'd love to ride a proper high rise destination dispatch lift someday but unfortunately I can't think of any near me that are publicly accessible; the only ones I can think of are in secure office blocks and hotels. You're lucky you've gotten to ride so many!

@@LIFTEXCELSIOROfficial Yeah - I’m the same with these. Especially considering OTIS Compass *_full stop_* is not exactly common in NZ. Also, high-rise office elevators-DD or not-are still very much daunting in this country 😅 Up in Auckland especially, there are a lot more that are turnstiled. I suppose it’s just fortunate here that *a)* both lifts face away from the central reception in the lobby, and *b)* there’s a very commonly used "rear" entrance from when B1 was a public floor in these lifts lol.

Hold up... that's Johns Perry's classic outer door with wide convex-concave ridges, for lack of better description. It seems it's missing the distinctive all-black inner door seals and is missing the clunky character of the original door operator, but I'd say JPL or Boral would be a decent enough guess.

@@ElevatorsfromSydney You should wait for my full video of this lift - the first time it happened I actually got jumpscared lmao! You can tell it’s just a very broken Series 1 chime, though whatever could’ve messed it up this badly is anyone’s guess 😭
