may i add for the wound packing, its not about how deep u pack the wound, the important thing is LOCATING the artery/source of bleeding and packing the gauze or cloth directly into it. its inefficient to just stuff the cloth in aimlessly. this video is much more detailed and useful than this half-assed one kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5myqouKop6Lrbssi=8QFff4JYHNVaWjy2
@hilaahmadian2066 Жыл бұрын
i wish she'd mentioned this but if you don't have a tourniquet at hand, you can just use a piece of cloth like a t-shirt and then use a pair of scissors or a stick to tighten it and apply pressure/tension.

Tourniquet should be the last resort. I heard that it should be loosen every so many minutes (for just seconds I guess) but maybe that depends on how severe the bleeding. I guess it is to reduce the chance of loosing the limb as us the risk with these things but if it is life threatening, you may have to make the tradeoff.

My brother got a severe cut on his cheek. I applied a tourniquet to his neck, instinctively he seemed to be struggling and yelling "stop, stop i cant breath" but i knew i had to stop the bleeding. I did.... ill always remember you bro❤.
@hilaahmadian2066 Жыл бұрын
dude are u crazy??? tourniquets are only for limbs, ur NOT supposed to wrap those around the torso or neck. u didnt stop the bleeding, u stopped bloodflow to his brain

For the audience, are tourniquets placed high and tight (like the military teaches) or 2 to 3 inches above the wound (not on a joint) as taught in all the first aid books?

Bendiciones

Correct! The only thing worse than a death, is a preventable death-- especially one with such a easy solution/fix such as applying pressure, a TQ, or just calling 911 and knowing whats occuring.

I m sorry, but this tourniquet is too complicated for a bystander that would even have access to this contraption. It s a waste of taxpayer's money. Instead, the focus should be on what a layperson can find to use to help someone who is bleeding out. Any suggestions?

Why would you pack a wound? If bleeding but tour not required. Use tourniquet if spurting blood; put 2-4 inches above wound, no packing, 0-2 hours leave it alone & doc takes it off. Buy quick clot, bleedstop, woundseal, gauze, tape, and tour kit and carry it with you. Use quickclot on neck w/ pressure.

I'm doing my trauma rounds right now for ER and this was a very well made video. I would add that if the bleeding persists despite having a tourniquet on, add one on top, DO NOT remove the existing one and replace it. And if you're worried about losing circulation to that limb, remember it is life over limb in emergencies, better to lose an arm then your life.

I don’t agree that you tighten a tourniquet “ as tight as you can“ The point is to tighten the tourniquet until the bleeding stops🙄

I have been here since 10 AM. I have simply asked for something to eat and all of a sudden they are out of food. It is 10:46 pm.The "nurses" are also out of my pain med as well. I will not come here again. It is a basic need to eat and I have been here all day, I also am diabetic.
