I never would have suspected the regulator of causing a battery drain. 5:19 I should add that _something_ is draining the battery if it discharges while connected but doesn't when either cable is disconnected. I just never thought a faulty reg would or could do that. I would have thought something else, like a small ground fault of something.

Hi. Nice job. Kept it easy and simple. I have a similar retort. I have to add combustion wood twice with the lid and flue off. Then I pack it with short thin hard wood pieces and when it starts ‘burning my jeans’ I put the lid and clamp on. It only off-gases a little less than an hour but does make charcoal for biochar. I think my feed stock needs to be dryer to work better.

I think black looks good. Goes with some of the other black trim. Makes them stand out better against the red. I wouldn't paint them.
