I lost my sense of smell about 10 years ago following an upper respiratory infection. I’m all but anosmic but I can smell scented soaps and lotions. Foods: no such luck, usually. I’m a cilantro lover, but I get only the most occasional sniff. I sometimes get a retro nasal whiff of freshly chopped cilantro. It’s rare and its happened only a couple of times. I seem to be allowed only a brief treat, probably until the odorant receptor depolarizes. Taste without flavor is lacking.

We have both an air fryer and a normal fryer, both have their own purpose, to make fries we always use the normal fryer, but for things like chicken wings, and other stuff that can be fried we use the air fryer

The one thing i dislike about this short is how it implicates that salmonella is common within chicken meat. It's actually relatively rare, it's just that the risk is non zero.

Here’s what I do: 1. To season a new pan: a.rub it all over with cooking oil or shortening and put it in a hot oven for awhile. b. Cook with it. 2. To clean: dump any excess fat that will pour out. Pour some water in pan while pan is still hot. Wipe out pan with paper towel. Put a little oil on the cooking surface and put it away. 3. Pro tip: bake cornbread in it. Seriously, if you ever feel like your seasoning needs a “glow up” make some southern style (no sugar) cornbread and it will leave your pan looking amazing. 4. “My pan is ruined! Now what?” Well, do you have a fire pit or a gas grill? Start a camp fire and stick the pan in it. Or, fire up your grill as hot as it goes, put the cast iron in it and let it burn. Let the pan cool, brush it out with a wire brush and re-season.

Cast iron is so simple. Why are there so many videos about “caring for” cast iron pans? They don’t need care, they’re chunks of iron. Unless you break them (they are brittle) you can always make them right to cook with. Well seasoned pots and pans are extremely easy to clean up. Even if someone washes it with soap, it’s simple to re-season it. So, if you’ve never tried them, don’t be afraid. Give it a shot and enjoy the results.

The "gunk" at the bottom as you call it is actually packed with flavor. It's called "fond." It is a staple in French cooking. The reason they add wine is to help lift or dissolve the fond into the food being cooked. I recommend leaving it in the pan and never washing the pan because you will just wash away all that delicious flavor. KZbinrs who talk about this have created a saying, "We are fond of fond."

You can rehydrate things with a microwave though. If your bread is dry put it into microwave with a glass of water next to it so that as it cooks the steam from water basically rebakes it into a fresh new bread

Yes, pathogens are everywhere, thats not new information, it should be common knowledge. Meat is far more dangerous in terms of dangerous pathogens. Rice is one of the few items that has a similar chance of making you ill. As long as you properly wash (and cook) your fruit and vegetables, you're far far less likely to get ill from them compared to meats.
