Isn't the alternating part irrelevant? Wouldn't the heat be created just the same with DC?
@Sweet-Vermouth

DC current would also produce heat but it is not possible to induce DC current via induction. A static magnetic field does not generate electricity. An alternating magnetic field produces an alternating electric current.

Is this now an exclusive tik tok/shorts channel? Otherwise, please, identify the video as a short in the title like other channels do. Many youtube viewers prefer landscape, long form videos, as it has always been until tik tok. We, youtube users are dumb but still are able to download the tik tok app if we really want shorts.

As a European, I find it funny that the Americans are only now - hesitantly! - switching to induction. That it still has to be advertised there (as “weird”, which kind of defeats the purpose), while it became the standard option here over a decade ago. So I guess: "Welcome to the 21st century, 'Murica?"

I will say that you still don't want to use soap on a pizza stone, as bits of soap can get locked inside the pores and divots of the stone which can then emerge back out into the crust of any pizza you cook on it next, making your food taste soapy.

Conductive surfaces* heat due to induction, not magnetic surfaces, and the efficiency is highly dependent on the frequency of the electricity, as well as the magnetic permeability of the material.

Does the magnet from the induction stove actually give the pan electricity as well? So in that case, if you’re cooking with one, could you get shocked by the pan even before it’s hot?
@OslerS
@OslerS 20 сағат бұрын
1. There's no magnet just a coil of wire, the electricity flowing through that wire creates a magnetic field, this is known as "Faraday's Law" 2. No the reason the pan gets hot it's because it sucks at creating a path for electrons to flow so electrons get stuck and bounce with each other all around the material so that kinetic energy of the electrons colliding dissipates as heat, that's why it heats up
@OslerS

There's not actual electrical "current" flowing through the pan so no current = no shocks

heat from the pan, and waste heat from making the magnetic fields. Electromagnets do tend to get hot themselves.

The reason the pan gets hot is the same reason why an incandescent bulb generates light, because it sucks at creating a clear path for electrons to flow so electrons get stuck and bounce with each other all around the material so that kinetic energy of the electrons colliding with each other dissipates as heat, that's why it heats up that phenomena is called 'electrical resistance'

It would need to be as large as the induction coil to do anything - if the item on top is too small, it won't "induct", and most cooktops will just error out and turn off. (I have that problem when trying to use my "one egg pan" on my larger induction cooktop. The pan is too small.) If it's a big magnet, it will heat up just fine. And then likely lose its magnetism.
