Living in the area, we like to venture outside of the usual. Green River is a zoo anyway on weekends. Wind River range is some of the best camping in the US.

Where is this if you don’t mind I’ve never caught a Kokanee and I would love to ?
@KutthroatOutdoors2 ай бұрын
Majority of the reservoirs will have Kokanee staged up in the rivers. Do a little research to find which reservoirs have them and go to the river that flows into it. Just make sure you can target them in that specific river and don’t keep them. Good luck :)

So easy to catch them at that lake. Got them on spoons spinners hair jigs flies. But the grayling fight much harder!

I don't know what's more stunning, the landscape or the fish 😅😃

I enjoyed your video and thought it was very well done. The hike up there is a very nice one which I have done more than once. It looks like you were catching some of those brookies that were planted there this year. You might want to check the DWR website regarding the stocking of individual lakes before you choose a destination.
@KutthroatOutdoors3 ай бұрын
We normally check it every so often. The hike was awesome, glad we made it up for the first time! No complaints here on the fishing, even if they were smaller (and maybe recently stocked) it was great having the lake alone and it wa a hot bit all day
@notyouraveragejoe8553 ай бұрын
Spectacular scenery, solitude, only the sounds of nature and to have that place all to yourself with rises all over the place is a snapshot of fishing paradise IMO. Too bad the brookies weren't 2-3lbs each but I've had my share of similar size catches under similar situations and it's all about the pursuit, spot, presentation, take and hook set and not the size that fulfills your quest. As I watch your walk in and take note of the landscape, I can't help but think about, is this not black bear and mountain lion country? Do you "carry" or are you allowed to as you travel on these adventures for your added protection?
@KutthroatOutdoors3 ай бұрын
It was spectacular for sure! Even if the fish aren't large sometimes it's the beauty of being out there in nature where it is quite, not crowded, and taking in the scenes of those high mountain lakes. In all of the years going up there we have never encountered any wildlife situations outside of a moose in the distance. Normally carry bear spray as a precaution, a knife, and let others know where we are. Although it's possible to run into a bear or mountain line for sure, it's never something we have really stressed over out there.

Love that area. Been going up there my whole life but haven’t made it this year (yet). Awesome video. Would love to see more shots of the campsite, cooking meals, the gear you use etc.. but love all the great shots of fishing too! So did you only have the mosquito on the line, or did you do a dropper with a nymph too under the mosquito? Keep it up
@KutthroatOutdoors3 ай бұрын
Noted! Definitely want to do a better job of showing the gear, meal prep, and camp set up more in the future. Caught one fish on a nymph and bobber indicator, but the mosquito was the most successful by far and usually is! Didn't attempt a dropper on it with winds being high most of the day it just wasn't worth the extra line tangles when they were biting on just the dry

Was up there a couple weeks ago. Camped by Grandaddy and Betsy and explored the west loop counter-clockwise on a day hike. No fish rising on any of the lakes. Fished Mohawk before returning to camp. Tried an olive streamer just to see what would happen and the brookies frickin destroyed it. Probably would have worked on all the lakes I went by. I'm going to head up again soon but camp away from the lakes. The mosquitos were intense near Grandaddy and Betsy, but in between lakes on the loop no so bad. I think a more exposed camp site with a breeze would help. Love your vids, keep'em coming.
