Main thing people have to know when running a wire across an A pillar is to make sure you are not crossing over an airbag and possibly impeding its deployment path when needed. If you know what you are doing and how to properly do it, I would pull the A pillar cover to be sure. It's not that hard and then you know.

For my 2020 Defender install w/stock rims, I can't seem to get over the fact that the adapter plate is off center just enough that I can't slide the bracket in. If I try, I will scratch up the inside of the wheel center. Anybody else run into this? Its a brand new Thule Spare Me 2 rack.

I'm looking at a solution for my spare wheel and this looks up there...presently have a bike rack on top with steps on the side...its just too much hassle and stress getting my mountain bike up and down...so appreciate the video (I'm 6ft 6 and wouldn't recommend a standard bike rack in top...ever!)

worth noting that when I contacted Thule about a compatible bike rack for my vehicle which is the same as yours, they said none of theirs will work. Do you have any issues with the unit creeping/rotating to the left or right from the weight of the bike after perhaps a bumpier ride?

Hey! What do you do with the attached safety strap when you're not using the rack? Does driving it everyday with it rolled up and an elastic around the roll work?

I’m not sure with the BFI but I know with the racesengs it takes time for the rings to loosen up which should result in easier pull and for it to fall back into position on its own. Would love an update video if you haven’t already posted one!

Thanks for the video! I just put my rack on today!! I have a silly question..I cannot get the arms to fold. I unscrewed the knobs as instructed in the manual but the arms will not move. Is there a trick to it not in the manual?

I’m guessing that strap loops around your downtube(s) to keep the bikes from "flying" (not off, but bending outwards and upwards). I have a Thule carrier and wondered why they included the strap. First time I hooked it up to the back of my car w/o the strap and started driving on the freeway, I saw why I needed it. How you enjoying the Defender? I was out pricing one yesterday after my bike ride.

We have just seen this video now- and that absolutely is due to how it is installed unfortunately. We have since revised the design completely and offer a Version 2 DSG adapter that prevents install errors such as this

My apple CarPlay stopped working after updating on 9 dec 2020

The usual remedy for these types of issues is to press and hold the infotainment on/off button for 10-15s, which causes it to reboot. Failing that, disconnect the battery for about 30-45 mins. Is your battery voltage okay? I keep mine on a Ctek charger if I'm only doing short drives or leaving it for a while.

If u tighten up the 4 locking screws wrong it torques the shifter into doing that. U have one or two screws in to far instead of having them all even or close. The same thing happened to me when I first tried and I readjusted it and it works great now.

In the installation manual, it says that I need to leave the car unlocked for the car to drain all current. Was that necessary? Have you done it?

So car is off no keys in the ignition then plug in the pedal box in. After switch on the car and does it work instantly ? You dont need to programme it and push on accelerator like the burger motor sports version ?

You know, this does seem totally daft! - A vehicle that comes wihth so many cameras as standard - but you have to go and buy more cameras to use as a dashcam. Land Rover really shold do a softwre u[pdate that allows you to record the cameras supplied with the vehicle - it's totally mad to have to buy more cameras to have a dashcam (which is really essential nowadays) - especially as the rear camera on the shark-fin is so good ... crazy!

You didn't connect the C harness, the one you coiled up and hid away

It would be so much nicer to have a push button on the top of the knob. Like pushing the BFI emblem would be perfect. 👌🏻 Also won’t buy BFI because of this pull thing.
