I couldn’t agree with you more, to be honest. I think the intention is for them to serve as inspiration machines and idea generators. Sure, you can try and understand what this does when you turn this and flick this, but it’s more fun to just experiment with these types of pedals. Ultimately I have a base understanding of the pedals, I have found making a video helps me to study. That said I plan on posting a few more sound experiments soon, maybe it will help someone dive deeper as well.

@@NealCaen I don’t actually have Blooper, so this answer is purely based on the limited knowledge I have. The Blooper and MOOD seem like two different pedals to me. The Blooper being a looper with 40 sec max loop time and the MOOD being an always listening micro looper time stretcher with a secondary time based effects loop back side. I would say the MOOD, to be honest. As loopers go, the Blooper just doesn’t appeal to me. When it comes to loopers I love what Habit offers, an always on buffer with 3min of record time, overdubbing, two tapes heads essentially with the option to move on around in time and some added effects. Maybe you already have a Habit though, in that case definitely the MOOD over the Blooper.

@@757SoundLab Thanks for the quick response. How would you route a Minifreak, a Microcosm and let’s say a Shallow Water into Ableton? @757SoundLab
@757SoundLab Жыл бұрын
@@nichtverfugbar2387 You could send midi clock to Microcosm from Minifreak. Microcosm shines as a send. To do that in Ableton go to Create>Insert Return Track. In that track place the External Audio Effect from the Audio Effects category. Within the effect, you will set the Audio To to whatever your output signal from your interface is to your Microcosm's input. Audio From should be set to whichever input on your audio interface is receiving Microcosm's output. You would then mess with Send levels within your audio tracks in order to send audio to Microcosm. I'm unsure of your setup and if you have multiple ins and outs or what have you. As far as other pedals, you can either run them in series, make them sends if you have more outputs, or even use a mixer of some sort to route audio around and experiment with levels. Maybe I should just make a video on the topic, difficult to explain in one paragraph.

@@757SoundLab I have a Apollo Twin X Interface and the Microcosm at the moment. @757SoundLab
@757SoundLab Жыл бұрын
@@nichtverfugbar2387 it all depends on if you want to use it as a send to manipulate other studio gear or just as an effects pedal on your Minifreak. The setup you’ve mentioned would be just like using the Microcosm with a guitar, except you’re using a synth. For stereo, you can get a Y style TRS cable that goes from L/R output of your Minifreak then to the input of the Microcosm. From there, two cables from the L and R output of the Microcosm to the the inputs of your Apollo. For mono, just use one cable between each device.

What features does cloudburst offer that the strymon Big Sky doesn't?
@757SoundLab
@757SoundLab Жыл бұрын
The Cloudburst has an ensemble switch that has 3 settings. The 3 settings are [off], [mp] or mezzo piano which is a medium amount of ensemble, and [forte] which is a strong or loud amount of ensemble. Although the Big Sky has the Cloud reverb algorithm, it doesn’t have ensemble though. Ensemble is sort of like a string machine, which accompanies the cloud reverb.

Hey I’m setting up a pedalboard right now. I’m in the same boat. I really wanted the big sky but I didn’t think my set up through. I’m running a medium pedal board size and a voodoo power plus 2. So my board is too small and power supply isn’t powerful enough for the big boxes. So between the reverbs it came down to blue sky, cliudburst and holy grail. I think the blue sky will get you the best versatility. I’m going to just get one of those. Then they hold their value so well so can always sell and go bigger when ready.
@Brianbo4
@Brianbo4 Жыл бұрын
Also if you’re thinking about a first pedal set up. I’m doing a poly tuner into a tone corset compressor (the JHS orange peel one is better but twice as much). Compressor into EQ, that into a morning glory, morning glory into a wampler tumnus, tumnus into either a rat or a fuzz, I’m going the fuzz route with the big muff op amp (think smashing pumpkins) - that into a memory boy delay pedal (this is also my mod, as it has chorus and vibrato), that into the blue sky, blue sky into my looper pedal.
@757SoundLab
@757SoundLab Жыл бұрын
That is a great question and a tough call. Is it your first reverb pedal or first Strymon reverb? All reverbs are certainly not created equal. With the Strymon BlueSky V2 you can choose plate, room, or spring reverb and add light or deep modulation. You get pre delay, mix, and tone control just like the cloudburst, but the BlueSky has shimmer control which the cloudburst does not. Aside from the Reverb types, Cloudburst having cloud type and BlueSky having 3 totally different types, the ensemble switch on Cloudburst is something that even the BigSky doesn’t have. It’s a game changer, and would make the purchase hard if I didn’t have any other reverb pedal. If I had the standard reverbs covered be another pedal(plate, spring, room), I would definitely go with cloudburst. Also, it kind of depends on what type of music you want to create. Sorry this got so long winded.
