The 66Mbit limit is because of your 100Mbit switch. Connect for testing directly to the starlink and see the difference. I went from 66Mbit to 200-300Mbit.

I notice when you are sending PA0PLY's call at the 9:20 point in the video you are sending the 0 (zero) as 4 dashes instead of 5 dashes. Is that some kind of a shortcut used for EME or is there another reason? 73 Skip, enjoying watching your videos!
@VE6BGT10 күн бұрын
Well what can I say?? My CW was all messed up.. It was at that point that I was trying to remember if it was a zero or the letter "O" !!! Thats why I stopped and went over to the computer table and looked at my notes to see which was correct.. The number zero of course. I can send CW a lot better than I can copy it.. Especially when its weaker like his signal was.. Thats why I like EME, its nice and short and a lot of repeating because we know its going to be weak and distorted.. So mostly just the calls are exchanged, Signal reports and then 73 to each other.. The second contact from Peter, OZ1LPR was a lot easier but even then at one point I just could get what he was telling me. I got that he sent the number 500 but I couldnt relate to it.. Later on in the recording I got that he was telling me he was putting out 500 watts!! No wonder he was strong ha ha... Thanks for commenting and watching my " NERD" channel.. Skip

That router/firewall you have is old and just 100 mbit, you need to replace it to get better speed. I would recommend ubiquti unifi. Or if you are on a budged just get cheap 1000mbit switch....

@SimjetAU11 күн бұрын
Skip. get yourself a new router and just run the starlink into it..make sure your router has wifi 6. its far faster and better. Make sure the router is a gigabit router. They are cheap now. I use starlink at my farm and have TPLink routers and switches I have 3 wifi6 access points and of course my direct connections. It works fabulously. There is one drawback with Starlink and for remote ops its a pain. If you want direct IP access to your system from a remote site the system is CGNat so you are behind a firewall and you cant direct login as it is not a external IP address. I use a Rasp Pi at the remote site and I use software called Twingate...works an absolute treat for my remote direct IP access into the farm. Twingate is free if you only have a couple of devices on it but I pay the $60 a year for it. The beauty is that it is totally secure and you can let who you want into the site

Hey Skip. We are on our 3rd or 4th year with Starlink now. I have not had to call Starlink for help yet. Previously I would have to call monthly and spent hours on the phone with techs to get our old system operational. With a new ASUS router attached, 150 down and 30-80 up. Starlink is a game changer for us country folk.

Yes it was hard to understand his audio in the recording.. The headphones are a lot lot better as they are going through some DSP filtering which helps a lot especially for the weaker ones and my poor ears.. Thats why I like EME, the QSO is short and sweet, some duplication to help out also.. I wouldnt be able to carry on a conversation at the best of times.. Thanks, Skip

Enjoyed the video. I've got that same K2RIW amp here that I used for FSTV back in the day. Nice to see that some of them are still kicking, although mine has been in the closet for a couple of decades now. 73.
@VE6BGT19 күн бұрын
Yea I used my K2RIW for ATV back when also.. I never got the proper modulation going, I just drove the amp with the ATV transmitter. Could get it to around 200 watts before it lost sync etc.. It works good for EME once it drifts into tune ha ha.. I abuse the poor thing.. Thanks for the comment.. I like your channel name ha ha.. Skip

Your front panels and UI on the screens look amazing! Better than a lot of commercial gear. What are you using for the microcontroller and the display? Is there some kind of library you use to make the menus, or is it all coded from scratch?
@VE6BGTАй бұрын
Hello and thanks for the great comments.. I use PIC microcontrollers for everything around here.. I use Basic as the programming language for the code also.. PIC Basic is so easy I cant ever see going to anything else.. Like all things it has limits of course.. The touch displays are called Nextion and are a great replacement for using ordinary 2 or 4 line LCDs.. The Nextion has its own editor and all the icons and graphics are from their editor.. Its mostly just text and the PICs send the data to them.. No libraries, its all home made done here.. Look at my earlier videos on the channel for more detailed work with these great displays.. Skip

😀I learned a lot of stuff abt. watercooling. The blue box, what´s that ? is it a heat exchanger/compressor ??
@VE6BGTАй бұрын
Hello Helmut.. I had to watch the video to see what " blue box " you are referring to.. I think you were looking at the top covers of the two water tanks that hold the distilled water for the two amplifier systems.. They are sitting inside that separate gray small cabinet that all the water tubing goes to.. They are just water reservoirs that have the small fish tank pumps in them also.. The water after going through the amifiers then returns through two small radiators with fans and then returns back into these water tanks.. There are earlier videos on my channel showing in more detail this part of the system.. The 23cm amplifier project shows more if I recall.. Thanks, Skip

@VE6BGTАй бұрын
Hello and thanks for the comments.. I would say that 23CM is becoming the most common band, 1296 Mhz.. Not so much interference like the lower frequencies and yet easy to get set up on.. But thats my opinion, depends on what you are trying to do.. Skip

Well thanks for the great comments.. I do enjoy making these crazy videos, almost as much fun as building the equipment to use on them. @VE6BGT3 ай бұрын
Yes Hello again.. I reached out to you a while back after watching your video.. I was impressed that we had done a lot of the same things.. Yea mine is complex or overdone but thats what I do.. Back then I was actually doing the first real serious attempt at VB6 and was learning a lot.. So I would discover something and keep adding onto the program.. It got more and more things added to it.. I am actually redoing the dish control system right now, on and off, to match up with the 6 foot solid dish I have been building for my 10 Ghz setup.. I need more control in between feedback steps from the encoders for my 9 and 6 CM systems also.. So the new program will be implemented into the large dish control also.. Plus I am taking out some things I never use.. I just have to get back to it between all the other projects.. Thanks for looking.. Skip, VE6BGT
