I really enjoy hearing the history these rifles bring to the table. A deer rifle that is passed on from generation to generation. Very cool! I am glad you have the rifle and hope you harvest a deer with it someday! Thanks for sharing and watching!

My Grandpa's 740 in 30.06 is still going strong. It's only been fed 180gr core-lokt and many Deer have been taken with it by several family members. Gramps insisted on no oil in the action, he used graphite powder and I've never known it to jam ever.

Thank you for posting. Level, balanced, presentation. A working man's semi-auto hunting rifle, .. Browning BAR's were a notch, or two, above in production, .. but 2-3 times the cost. Priced out of the market for many in the '60's/'70's. .. A fair number of 1 1/2 - 4 power Redfield & Weaver scopes on Ebay at present, .. should that Nikon turn a bit cumbersome.

I hope to one day own a Browning BAR. They are a bit pricey. I will check out he Redfield and Weaver scopes. I have used a Weaver scope before. I do think one of them may be a better match than the Nikon. Great suggestion. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Dave! You sound like me when it comes to hunting and filming. It is usually one or the other. I have a lot of footage to put together for my "from the stand" video. I'll end up cutting it down to a bunch of small clips. My favorite was two 1.5 year old bucks sparring and having a good time. I've already posted the short to that. Yesterday I had 9 deer in front of me at one point and tonight from the same spot I only saw one lone doe. I'm heading back out tomorrow for some more video footage.

Boy that is the truth of it. I admire all those folks that make a filmed hunt seem so smooth and natural. For me I just now accept I will hunt first and film second. That is just that way it is. Cool stuff on the shorts. I will check them out. Good luck this season! Thanks for watching!

Yep she has wandered off but mostly when she was a puppy. She likes to go to the neighbor and get a treat. Problem is that it is across the road. So I spent a lot of time correcting that. For the most part, she will stay around me when I am by the camper. In the woods, I put her on a lead. Too many things out there that would eat a small dog. Just do not want to take a chance. She is super loving and super loyal. A good friend. Thanks for watching and the great comment.

Already have red dots on my AR15's, wondering if i should just add a 3X magnifier which means 2 units mounted or just remove those and use this one since its 1 unit acting as 2 🤔
@daveshsb
@daveshsb 17 күн бұрын
That is a really good question. I think if I were in your shoes, i would add the magnifier to each rifle. You already have the red dot. You can move the magnifier in and out of position which is a great feature. If I was just setting up my rifle, I would give the Votatu scope real consideration. Like you said a Prism scope with internal red dot serves both purposes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

If it shoots where you aim it, it’s not too old. Fancy rifles are nice to have, but unnecessary. Biggest buck I ever killed was taken with a short-barreled Norinco SKS with a Dragunov stock. I was ribbed about carrying such an ugly non-hunting rifle but it did the job just fine.

I have a 742 Woodsmaster in .308 that belonged to my father in law. It was all gummed up when I got it, and took it all apart and cleaned it. One thing with these rifles is to grease the bolt. Mine runs great and I’m taking it hunting this afternoon.
