My DR insists "healthy fats" do not elevate LDL. My labs say differently. That's where I strayed 2024. Jumped 11 pts LDL Dec labs. Hello 2025 and adios almond butter; oilive oil salad dressing; processed black bean burgers ... you get the idea. What was I thinking🙄

Seems like my health is just past being able to be cured. Between having 11 specialists and needing one procedure after another. I finally have answers after 8 years but now there are more and more things that these specialists are finding. Of course my severe ankylosing spondylitis makes these procedures even riskier. Pre-diabetic, GERD, silent reflux , coughing for 3 months, pre-colon cancer (1/2024),bradycardia, swings in BP, brain fog, memory loss, constant headaches ( for 8 years), intercranial hypertension (which another specialist believes that diagnosis is incorrect and believes that I have a brain fistula which he also believes caused the stroke like symptoms that happened to me in 2019). Venous sinus stenosis ( 3 narrowed vessels on left side and 2 on the right of my major artery). Now my rheumatologist believes that my AS caused further damage to my lumbar which has caused increased numbness and issues with my bladder and colon. I tried the Starch Solution last year for about 3 months. I lost 5 pounds but I still had a lot of inflammation, fatigue, and severe stomach and throat pain I’m guessing because of the fibrous veggies and the GERD. I tried taking enzymes and it made it a little more bearable but the fatigue and inflammation kept increasing. Instead of decreasing.

I am a Dr Esselstyn disciple. However my extended family is not. They all have heart disease and are on the carnivore keto train. This was seen big time at Christmas. I'll try again this year to convert them lovingly.
@returntoyehovahthelord6185Күн бұрын
Good luck! The carnivore people are devoted to their religion. I don’t even try to convince them to the contrary. They all think it will cure heart disease, cancer and every other disease. I’ve read the science and heard from the many WFPB doctors just the opposite of what my friends believe. It is very frustrating but each of us has to just take care of our own health.

If you asre not recommending sprouting at home, you are are doing your viewers a disservice. Sprouts contain 1-100 times more nutrition than their grown up counterparts.I'm I'm talking broccoli, radish, cabbage, And many others. Sprouting is incredibly easy ... Get on it !!!!!!, You should be fermenting at home is as well. Its incredibly inexpensive as well!! Get your amino acids from Spirilina and Chorella. These have the highest sources of protein and and all 9 amino acids. Incredibly nutritious!!!! Plenty of B12 in chorella. SUPPLEMENT YOUR "WHOLE VEGETABLES WITH ALL OF THESE MEASURES!!!!! BROADEN YOUR HORIZON RIP!!!!

I love Molly! I teared up several times throughout this podcast. I took a lot out of this and from here forward, I am going to work on embracing the suck. I am going to work on acknowledging the feels and I definitely need to work on being comfortable with being uncomfortable and being okay with all of it. I have fought back and shoved down many feelings lately instead of embracing and dealing with them. Thank you Rip for having her on the show.

It was so great to chat with Rip! Thank you for your comment! 💖 I’m so glad the episode resonated with you. Embracing the suck, acknowledging the feels, and leaning into discomfort is such hard work, but it’s also where the growth happens. 🌱

Hi RIP and gang. I am new to plant based eating only a little over a month. I can’t believe I finally found a way to eat to not only help me lose the 80 lbs I need to lose but also a way of eating that I love! I never thought I would ever go without meat in my diet for a meal much less a day of meals. Also dairy is gone!!! Thanks for what you do. I am watching the rest of your family as well and I am learning so much. Wish me luck as I embark on my new journey into a new way of eating to improve my health.

Congrats! Way to go! I’ve been doing it for almost 3 years and it just gets better :) I felt the same as you. I’m 70 lbs less than I was at my most. I’ve never been able to maintain my ideal weight in any other way of eating. I know this is the right way. Especially when you make whole grains and legumes the staff of your life, but do not forget colorful veggies and fruit too of course :-) you never have to be hungry

Wegovy first in 2023 and Zebbound in 2024 helped get me started with controlling appetite and weight loss. But the big thing is that it has allowed me to have the will power to gradually make food changes. I am now WFPB (stay off the SOFAS) giving up all meats, dairy. It's doing great and I've stopped the Zepbound for a month now. Weight not coming back because of total transformation of diet to WFPB. (thanks for all of you diet gurus for the teaching, coaching, and support). I was 275lb at 5'7" and now under 190lb still losing. Pants were 42" now 34" (32" for shorts). So yes the drug are technically not good, but can be a helpful tool at the beginning to get control and be taught how better to eat. But for most people, they are not willing to give up meat, cheese, dairy, etc to make the change and medicines will fail with all the weight coming back quickly. Keep up the great work with WFPB; hopefully more will make the change and the food industries will change but as you say, there is no money in plants but rather processed foods (and meds).

I love Tofu. Air Fry with a bit of low-sodium Tamari sauce. Very satisfying taste and a bit of an appetite tamer for me (especially when I dip in hummus). What about the Fat? Should I be limiting tofu amounts for weight loss reasons? Also I make a low-sodium miso based vegetable soup (low-sodium vegatable broth, lots of spinach, mushrooms, onoin, brocolli, carrots) adding tofu (sometimes silken and other times firm). It's very yummy and healthy IMO. Should I limit it due to tofu fat for weight loss? Not finding issues, but I see WFPB gurus for weight loss saying "no tofu" due to fat. But it's so yummy and satisfying. What do you think? Should I limit Tofu for weight loss? For me, Nuts is the big one to control, not tofu. Nuts are so additive and high fat; I agree on that one to limit but perhaps tofu OK (for me).

Love your book. I binge on the audiobook to help relearn what to eat and why. It is so important for me to purge out my lifetime of bad nutritonal information (meat, dairy, cheese, olive oil good) and learn about true nutrition for audio books like yours. (also love McDougall and Chef AJ maximum weight loss audiobooks. Very complementary books presented with different styles. Rip with Engine 2 a great listen too.). As for best foods, obviously brown rice better than white rice and sweet potatoes better than white pototoes. How about White Potatoes vs White Rice? For me, I LOVE regular white potatoes finding the Starch factor to be some satisfying and appetite taming. More so than white rice (and I dislike brown rice). Am I good making White Potatoes a regular go-to item compared to rice (white or bronwn)? I do like sweet potatotes, but they are not a satisfying from a Starch / Carb standpoint to me. White Potatoes are very satisfying and appetite taming for me. Is this correct? Good? Also I like Hot Spicy; very satisfying taming a desire for salt. Similar with vinegar; adds flavor without health issues. Spice & vinegar make the WFPB menu so enjoyable.

@@teamt8088but why would it matter if someone chooses to stay on it forever? I am at goal but when I went off I had to start white knuckling it again. Why should I live that way? Now I am back on a low dose and life is easier. I don’t have to use most of my brain space to not eat. That’s why some doctors say some will have to stay on.
