Hi, thank you for asking, it's running well. I'm a year behind on videos so I want to make some updates, but I need to finish the videos that need editing first, once I have time.

Did you shim countershalf end?
@LegitRaceCraft9 күн бұрын
I reshimmed the front side of the countershaft and the main shaft(nearest the enging). There wasn't a problem with shifting in the previous car (so I'm told), so I didn't feel the need to reshim both sides of the countershaft and mainshaft.

You can 100% run individual coil packs with a stock IS300 ecu and you don’t have to have a standalone.
@LegitRaceCraft22 күн бұрын
@@ae86ptan7 yes, but you have an extremely limited pool of coils to choose from that have the comparable dwell times to the oe coils. The oem ecu turns the coil packs on for a certain amount of milliseconds (dwell) and you can't change the msecs on our stock ecu. Voltages from the battery affect these msec dwell times. Coils with longer dwell than they're used to will burn out, coils with too short of a dwell won't have a hot enough spark. Plus the oem wasted spark coil can handle upwards of 600hp before crapping out, there's no reason to swap to COPs on the oe setup since the oem ecu can only handle about 6 psi of boost before needing other upgrades anyway.

The factory radiator cap on the 1GR-FE is rated at 1.1 bar (~16 psi). I am also preparing to replace the OEM radiator in my Tacoma with a CSF, and I will also be replacing the CSF radiator cap with a CarQuest/Stant/NAPA 10233 (1.1bar). Increasing the pressure of your cooling system will probably blow gaskets elsewhere in the cooling system.

Hey great vid. The small wiring retainer bracket bolts (10 socket) , can come out and from the side , behind tire. Muuuuch easier, put some maskin tape on so bolt dont fall of from socket, like a lil piece to snuggle in.

85 and 86 are sometimes polarized. Meaning polarity specific, using a diode in series to the relay coil to prevent back feeding sensitive electrical components like an automotive ecu. Every sudden disconnection from power causes this. You'll see a triangle point a line. I think of this as the line being a barrier and not allowing current in that direction (Reverse Bias). Which, if you had a diode relay and wired this way you could damage the relay.

Trying to power 1 LED strip with 2 different sources. My problem is at some point both of these sources would be on. What would happen if both pins are triggered at the same time?
@LegitRaceCraft2 ай бұрын
the relay is a simple switch, so if both power sources are on going to pins 87 and 87a, only the one with the connection through the relay will have the connection to pin 30. The other connection will not pass through the relay until the relay is triggered off (or on)

This is the 1st video that I have ran across that mentions the higher (20psi) radiator cap with the upgraded all-aluminum radiator from CSF. Will and OEM radiator cap fit on the new upgraded radiator? I consider this important information because I plan on using the plastic thermostat/housing piece (OEM) and am also wondering if the higher psi will have any effect on head gaskets? Going from 16 psi to 20 psi is a 25% increase in pressure (which is High even though the numbers seem small and close in size).
@LegitRaceCraft2 ай бұрын
there may be a lower PSI rad cap that fits, but I don't think the OEM cap fits.

I'm thinking he probably already took care of this on his FJ, but for others watching @ 10:22 mix up some baking soda and water and brush the mixture onto the buildup on the battery post(s) to neutralize the acid. That buildup can eat your battery cables. I don't know if he recently got this fj but it needs some maintenance performed.
@LegitRaceCraft2 ай бұрын
I've been good on keeping it maintained and doing regular maintenance on it. The battery post buildup happens fairly quickly here in Hawaii. I spray PB blaster on it and wash it away occasionally

getting ready to pull the trigger on this project, are the links in the description still accurate and correct? Thanks
@LegitRaceCraft2 ай бұрын
if you're building your own harness, I had two links for the same connector, and one of those links seems to not be working (or not working right now?), it's all in Japanese. If you're just buying the Toyota harness to replace your old one, yes, that link is still good. I included the part numbers in the description just in case those links ever do fail, then people can search the part numbers separately.

Really important to wear glasses while doing this, the tube can burst off from the syringe pressure and spray everywhere before you can blink. A small zip tie helps keep a good seal on the bleeder. Also important to not let the syringe slosh around too much, it'll get air bubbles everywhere in the fluid. You don't actually need to have the fluid at the tip of the hose before attaching to the bleeder, every bit of it will be pushed out and in my opinion helps separate the old fluid from the new fluid and indicates when you're fully flushed. Wouldn't advise doing that with any ABS hardware though, might mix the air in.

I can't get the carbs to slip on the boots. I've taken them off and put them on a few times before, and they always slip back on. This time, they just won't mount. The clamps are loose, and the silicone spray is not working.

Yeah, I've had that happen to a few motorcycles. I've even had to cover the inlets with something and put my shoe on to try to evenly press down. These intake manifold boots just get old and aren't very flexible any more

My dad has rebuild starters and alternators for 20 years, and he recently taught me how to rebuild them. These types of starters are my favorite, they have many parts but I just understand were they all go, and it is just so easy to take everything apart. I take the whole thing apart, I could even press out the solenoid to check if it is fine. I clean everything with gasoline, dry everything out and re grease the bearings gears change out the contacts, solder in new brushes if they need them, and give them a nice paint job for a nice and clean install.

@LegitRaceCraft4 ай бұрын
My experience with other cars says yes, the quick way to know would be to pull off the inside A pillar and check if it's a mirror opposite of the other side. By the way, these wires stayed behind this A pillar for probably 5 years with no issues. The Hawaii UV rays killed the wires before any wires rubbed through on the A pillar anywhere
