Really? The sire of hundreds of bastards who then took joy in making the children fight in a cruel cockfighting cabal which was the epitome of barbarism? Who stole his crown from his own flesh and blood and has proven foolish, feckless, and a friend only to his enemies? Is he compelling at times? Yes. Aemond is the MVP, because he is truly and tremendously intelligent though to say he is immune to terrible mistakes or he is somehow pure and virtuous is a stretch.

@@sagesigman8269 In the show he didn't want to steal the crown but was lied to and forced on the throne. In the books Aegon is a true bastard but in the show he is actually a likable person, in the show its Aemond who started the war by killing Luke, its Aemond's fault Jaehaerys was murdered and its Aemond's fault Aegon and Sunfyre fell, he could have attacked Meleys in any other way then by burning one of their 4 dragons and his king.

I love the way you showed the obvious parallels between the way Alicent and Aemond acted when denied justice. Alicent lost it and pulled a knife, holding back, but clearly with the intent to do something, anything. Aemond chased Luke through the storm years later for the same reason, with intent to either frighten him or truly take his eye for payback. He wanted the payment he and his mother never received. Then Vhagar goes rogue because dragons are not slaves and completely demolishes Luke and Arrax in utter brutality, leaving Aemond horrified and regretful. Just as Alicent lost control of her blade and scarred her former childhood friend turned rival, leading to division. Like mother, like son. Alicent and Aemond brought down the first and last of the falling pieces that led to war. All because they acted out of fury and revenge when denied justice. So beautiful and tragic.
