3:48 is where the best part of the solo happens in my opinion. The two string arpeggio pattern that he lights up and then shifting it down an octave and then back is just magic

Best floyd rose tuning video I have ever seen. I've seen like 10 1h videos before that and could not tune my guitar. Its 8 years old but so much practical! Finally able to tune my guitar properly.

Hi Doug, I remember calling to order your Metal Method course in 1992 and you answered the phone. I thought that was pretty awesome and was glad to get to talk to you for a few minutes. Though you never became a "Rockstar" (you still reached a level few others get to experience) you definitely were a good enough player to be one if given the right situation. I hope that you are at least pleased in knowing that you have influenced so many of us that have learned so much from your lessons. I still remember you talking about playing golf in one of your lessons, I hope you are still playing that as well as guitar 🙂

What I love most about this video is that it covers something very fundamental. Too many guitarists want to become the next Randy Rhodes, but they can barely play a clean chord. In order to learn the advanced techniques, you really must master the fundamentals first. It's like NBA players who can do all these fancy dunks but can barely dribble, shoot, or pass. All style over substance. I'm happy to see a master guitarist like you promotion fundamentals in those teachings. We need more of that in this community
@DougMarks11 күн бұрын
And I love your comment. That's exactly right, it all comes down to fundamentals. It doesn't matter how good you become, you'll always need to pay attention and practice the fundamentals.

@DougMarks11 күн бұрын
Most don't. I just wear mine around the house because I don't want to show off. Thanks for the comment. I enjoy sharing these videos as long as I feel people continue to pay attention. I gauge attention by views and how many people download the practice materials. That's the big one. People that are seriously practicing this stuff must use the practice materials. I retain their email addresses and many will find that they are invited to my free Zoom sessions as a result of their participation.

Thank you so much for loading these I always wanted them but kept forgetting about them, and thank you for breaking them up into $19.99 sections so I can afford to by the others too. You break it down easy and after years of just letting my guitar sit I am having fun and learning again and thank you Doug for it.
@DougMarks11 күн бұрын
You're welcome. I highly recommend for those that can afford to take my private Zoom lessons to seriously consider it. These lessons are really great for those that have "let their guitar sit." There are two keys to staying involved: 1) Learn something new every time you pick up your guitar. 2) Play and share your music with other people. Here's a link to my Zoom lessons: store.metalmethod.com/p/personal-instruction-with-doug-marks/

Thanks for sharing this .. That really helps. I dint know this... I hope it doesn't damage the guitar the way i did for my new JS32 King V. But i have a question. For 60 seconds technique. Is it like fine tuning only everyday. Or loosen the screws then loosening the fine tuners and whole 9 yards. Or its just tuning with the fine tuner on the bridge? thanks alot for ur kind help

Welcome back! There's one thing that is guaranteed to keep you from going on another hiatus... play with others. Playing music is meant to be social. People tend to go on hiatus when they're treating guitar as a solo project.

You're welcome. I'm glad that it helped you out. I certainly have experienced the frustration you're talking about. There have been times when I spent more time tuning than playing. That's why I developed these techniques. Necessity is the mother of invention.

I bought the Metal Method VHS tapes when I was 18. I am now 50. I have recorded 5 albums in 2 bands and played all over my home state. I now play in my church each week. I never had a lesson besides watching you back then and now watching youtube players. I own the update on dvd. I now have my daughter watching these videos you have released since she only watches stuff on her phone! Lol. Thanks so much Doug!!
@DougMarks14 күн бұрын
That's great. Glad to hear from you. Also, thanks for sharing this with your daughter. I haven't really thought about it much but yes, this does make these lessons available on people's phone. I'm still more comfortable watching instructional videos on computer or TV. The screen on the phone is too tiny. So now my lessons have been available on audio cassette, VHS video, CD, DVD, Digital download, streaming, and last but not least... phone.
