Hey, do you know where I can find Roen-like clothing for cheaper ? I've searched for Avant garde clothing on internet but I didn't find anything that has this edgy dark Final Fantasy vibe that Roen has...

I think good sleazcore should also incorporates a certain elegance. Imho most of these fits are based in classic/formal men's wear of the time, usually presented with a degenerated fucked up essence. Be it because your last deal turned sour or because youre a disgusting piece of shit doesnt really matter. Personally i think focusing on the tacky part makes it look like a costume too easily and if i add a dash of elegance this aesthetic feels like an honest description of my personality and worldview. Damn, fashion is fascinating m8s..

I disagree with the “focus on black” aspect of this video, in my opinion Avant Garde should be about pushing boundaries without restrictions. Nowadays, when new designers create “avant garde” fashion, they often restrict themselves to making all black collections, and it all starts looking the same. I feel like the word itself has changed, it has turned into a sort of recipe instead of great boundary pushing design. (Not saying black = bad, but I think it destroys a lot of creativity to follow the recipie of “avant garde” fashion). Anyway, great video!
@kinowearofficial3 ай бұрын
I actually totally agree with this! I think the main benefit to monochrome fashion is that it gets you thinking about things other than colors. So, it's a good way to get more "out of the box" thinking. But you're totally correct that the point is to push boundaries and innovate.
@Wudlies3 ай бұрын
@@kinowearofficial Absolutely, monochrome fashion is great when it’s used to its advantage, when color would just be a distraction! I guess I’ve just seen one too many Rick Owens clones that stick to only black, and lacks a lot of what makes original Rick interesting. Of course, I think monochrome looks should have a big place in avant-garde - I just feel like the “only black collection” has become its own box within avant-garde, and it limits a lot of collections visually!

love how the cornerstone of gyaru subculture is rebelling against the idea of men objectifying them, just for a man to start a video saying it is one of the sexiest fashion movements. Kogal (the origin of gyaru culture, the high school girls talked about here) were indeed girls who wanted to focus on their own personal joy rather than the expectations society placed upon them. Unfortunately (and not surprisingly) the high school gyarus were heavily sexualized by men and the media, and perverts took advantage of the gyarus' rebellious nature to justify the sexualization of them. This is why the kogal movement shifted into the Ganguro movement. The objective of Ganguro fashion (and the styles that descended from it such as manba, the extremely stylized yamanba, and the toned down banba) was to repell the male gaze exactly because of what happened to the kogals. Ganguros did heavy tanning, dramatic and flamboyant makeup, crazy hairstyles and colors, in order to not be sexualized. In contrast to when media were all up in the business of the kogals, the ganguros were constantly filmed at a distance. So next time you want to do an informative video, learn the history of it so you don't do the very thing the propagators of the fashion were fighting against.

Gyaru was meant to fight beauty standards and embrace sexuality as a way to 'stick it to the man', calling it sexy and commenting on how you want a gyaru wife is literally defeating the entire purpose. also, Kogal isn't a subtype, its a descriptor. Kogal means "School Gal", which literally is gyarus in highschool. So if you want a 'kogal' gyaru wife, you want a child! .. aswell as Gal-Mom, its also a descriptor. also, even if the magazine "EGG" is super popular in gyaru culture, it sexualizes children so many modern Gals condemn it. Also "rocker" is Rokku.
