I'm in the middle of doing a powder coating (prepping) and yeah those rear trailing arms WTF my buddy with his 20 ton press we got one out but just couldn't get the 2nd one so drill and hacksaw like you're doing is the only way.

Mate it was a mission, I found out that the best chance is to heat it up heaps in the press if you can't stomach the saw 😜. All the best 👍🏼

@@BahjatAlaadel My first mistake was using a large socket that had a bit of a rounded lip, and was about maybe 42.3mm outer diameter, and that was the first mistake. Attempting the 2nd bushing of the first arm the press was going in sideways and once it went sideways it was over so I didn't continue. Will go with torch & saw method which I'm comfortable doing fortunately I was able to find a bearing that was exactly 43mm outer diameter to use as a "pressing die". So I'll attempt that on the 2nd trailing arm. Depending on how the hacksaw method goes I may not bother with a press except for installation. Thanks for posting a video. Videos take a long time and add a ton of time to the work day.

Hi, it should only take about a day if you don't have any parts or bolts that are rusty. You don't have to remove everything, just the exhaust from the catalytic converter and the drive shaft from the back of the transmission. Are you planning to change it to a short shifter or are you keeping the original components and just changing the bushings?

Unless you need to replace the rear wheel bearing, I would try to clean them in place with a wire wheel or if you have a little soda blaster with an air compressor. Hi Alex, I'm keeping the OEM exhaust which is 2 inch diameter. The main difference for both S38 and M88 is the headers have a 4 bolt flange to the engine block. M30's have a 2 bolt flange. The M88 has equal length headers which is a common upgrade for the S38 engine. Most options are for left hand drive, because the RHD one's are mostly in the UK. Good options are from schmiedmann and supersprint. Also the E34 M5's had the same exhaust. Thanks for the question, all the best.
