I propose a new nomenclature and welcome message for club site goers. Welcome to the Camping and Caravan Canine Kennels Club!The following caveat to be included: Please be aware that while canine visitors are allowed to foul anywhere at anytime on site, human sitegoers are limited to the one toilet in the family room during cleaning times. The other WC, including the Disabled facilities, MAY be available if they're not 'closed for the winter', despite the site being open all year round! Some advice for the Club and its legal team. If you are advertising on-site facilities that are not in operation then you need to make this clear during the booking process. Also, if the site advertises that it has disabled facilities then these must be provided, and not closed by the sites manager because the staff can't be bothered to clean them! As far as I'm aware, club sites are not franchises. They are managed by either paid CCC employees or volunteers, who are required to maintain a certain standard. If these people cannot or will not do their job properly then they should be replaced. Based on my experiences just this year alone, it is unlikely that I will be renewing my membership in 2025. 😔

Diesels make excellent towing cars because of the good fuel economy and the excellent low down grunt for towing. The problem is the 4900 people in the UK who die prematurely every year from vehicle emissions. There are some excellent electric tow cars out there like the Kia ev6 and Tesla model Y. The infrastructure unfortunately is not ideal. The majority of charging stations require you to unhitch and park up your caravan before charging and in some cases queue for a charger. Range is reduced for towing with electric requiring you to stop every 100 miles or so. Can you see the moral dilemma here? The caravan and camping club should be campaigning for more caravan friendly EV charging.

I have an 18 ft single axle travel trailer. Where should the trailer be positioned when starting to reverse in a space? Should the trailer be past the space you’re entering if so by how much? Should you be away from space or close

Help! I'm a disabled pensioner who bought a used caravan in September, which the owners kindly delivered to a local CCC site for me. I was informed that it would probably need a service, and I was given a name and contact details of a service engineer by a CCC staff member. I duly booked the service and up until that point everything was working perfectly fine on the van. Literally within hours of the service, which had passed on everything apart from the gas hose, my 3-way fridge stopped working on hook-up, the battery went flat, one of the outside lights on the van was very feint and eventually stopped working, and one of the flyscreens is also not working!. As I had moved on to another site by this time I could only speak to the engineer by phone. He sounded a bit vague and mentioned something about wires and the charger. I said I would contact him again if I couldn't sort it out. However, the new site manager was kind enough to take a look for me but couldn't find the switch. My caravan is a Coachman Amara 380/2 2008, and as I'd already booked another site we didn't have time to look further. Yesterday another caravanner, who is an electrical engineer, kindly looked at the whole charger and discovered that while there is voltage going in there is nothing coming out. While I'm not really bothered about the fridge at this time because of the cold weather, I am concerned over the battery because this means I cannot go off grid, or will have no heating if there is a power cut. For safety reasons, I will not use gas at this time. It also means I have no use of a water pump or motor mover as these are operated via the battery. I'm on an extended tour of the UK so now need to ensure that I book a site that has a hook up, which will increase my costs. Based on the quotes I've received, it appears that the repair costs would be astronomical! Even if I could afford to pay, I refuse to spend any money on the above issues because I believe that under legislation that was formerly the Goods and Services Act, I have a good claim for redress against the engineer. Am I within my rights to request that he reimburse me for either all or part of the service? The alternative is an action in the small claims court. To say I'm not a happy bunny is an understatement, so any useful advice or suggestions will be gratefully received. 😕😡

Hi . Your videos are very informative but is there any way you can do a video that shows a car that will tow a caravan that has a mass of 1700 . As not all of us can afford a big expensive car please

How it is with automatic driving on motorway or big hills? Does the transmision wear off? Like 750kg is good for this car driving on hilly terrain.

Who wants a weedy engined over complicated hybrid when you can have a proper diesel like this? CCC should be campaigning against the petrol/diesel ban in the interests of its members. Enjoyed the video.

An observation for you if I may.. My Mazda 2014 CX5 has a maximum roof rack load of 75kgs, so as I weigh 104kgs these are not suitable for my vehicle, I wonder how many people are buying these Tent Boxs without considering the roof rack load stipulated by the vehicle manufacturer. The DACIA JOGGER EXTREME SE TCE has a roof rack load limit of 100kgs, so the weight of a tent box 67kgs and the occupant(s) needs to be taken into the calculation, you only have 33kgs for the testers weight.

@derandall6500 Ай бұрын
Static weight and dynamic weight are completely different. My car will take up to 75kgs dynamic weight but 5x that static. So a Tentbox weight 65kg is absolutely fine when on the move. When the cars parked and it's up it can take around 300kg :)

It's October 2024 and I've just bought a used Coachman Amara 2 berth (2008), and will be touring around the UK for at least the next 6 months. While the caravan is generally clean it is in need of a more thorough one judging by the algae I can see through the roof light. Sadly, I am not physically able to do any of the major cleaning myself and so wondered if the CCC could suggest/recommend where there are professional or automatic cleaning services throughout the UK. Many thanks. 🙋👍

Do you ever test the trailer reversing assistants? They are assistants that can reverse and counter steer a trailer for you automatically and you just guide the direction via a screen or switch. These are fitted on X5, Touareg, VW, Audi, Porsche Cayenne etc. I've used one and it was great for some manoeuvres, others... less so. But doing a back to back of these assistants would be great.

The EV9 is a great car. The range is a very usable 300 miles but no EV makes a good towing car for obvious reasons. On the other hand, with all rear seats down, you have a double bed sized area with 240v outlets and privacy screens.

Thanks for the review Dave. May I get the source of information on consumption? You mentioned 1.2 miles / kWh. That is more than I was expecting. From various online forums I understand towing has ~40% penalty on range, hence I would expect some 260 km (160 miles) with full charge on EV9. During the longer trips it would be lower at 180 km (113 miles) in SoC from 80% to 10%. With your number, this would be just 130 km (210 miles) useful range (80->10% SoC), so not really usable in the end :( General statement: larger BEV can easily replace a main family car and also a towing car during holidays. We use diesel 7-seater Seat Alhambra as a main car, good for kids and towing. Not so much for driving a short trips in city. BEV could do both reliably and cheaply. You just need to compromise on more charging stops. They also start to make drive-though charger stations for caravanists, so you wouldn't need to unplug while charging. Price is also not horrible for such a big car. Alhambra had 50k Eur price and that was 7 years ago. Paying 75k eur isn't a huge jump, considering savings in overallcost of ownership

It's funny how these folding campers are built on a touring caravan base and are a tented version of a touring caravan with a similar looking interior, but with sleeping pod extensions at each end. I've recently got a 2004-05 Conway Crusader (or rather, my carer Wendy and her boyfriend Rob), and that's the biggest model that Conway did, and it even looked like a touring caravan on the inside too, especially with it featuring a chemical toilet and washroom unlike it's smaller Cruiser counterpart.🥰 I've also seen trailertents, and they're built on a modified goods trailer, and although they're easier to carry and store due to them being much smaller and lighter because of them being built on a modified goods trailer, I've heard that the folding section on the trailer requires pegging, but folding campers don't, which would mean for Trailertents, you'd need soft ground, but with Folding Campers, you can set up the folding section up on hard ground.

Yes, sadly the La Mancelle plant closed in the summer, but if you have bought one the warranty is still being honoured by Trigano approved repair centres. If you buy a pre-owned La Mancelle caravan from Marquis (which is part of the Trigano Group) it will also come with a three-year guarantee.

Lots of comments showing people clearly struggle to do this. My advice is simple, forget all the left hand up, right had down etc. Simply put your window down and look at your front driver side wheel. In reverse gear, whichever way your front wheels point, the caravan goes the other. As others say, put the bend on where possible by driving forward and turning. That way the angle is started for reversing and easier to follow. Low speed and small steering corrections are key. If you muck it up, stop, pull forward and go again.

Wow 205 miles range:if you drive at 30mph with no passengers in warm weather! CCC should be campaigning against EVs being forced on the buying public. They are useless, especially if you want to travel longer distance for your holiday and no better for the environment than a modern petrol or diesel.

In what way was this a review? It was nothing more than an overview of 'this is here' and 'that is there'. I still cannot fathom why Bailey et al are not putting a USB port on the chests below the wardrobe on either side of the bed for overnight charging. Preferably, wireless charging as most phones these days are capable of doing so and these also often include a socket as well. I think many people use their phones as their wake-up alarm clock and whilst that may be switched off for the bulk of the holiday, the last day will likely see it being switched on again to make an early start and check-out and get back on the road. Bailey's 110w solar panel is utterly inadequate. There should at least be an option to add more panels. A solar panel never delivers as much as it is rated for. The Camping and Caravanning Club are doing no one other than the manufacturers' a favour by regurgitating the sales brochure. Why aren't you talking about such things as departure angles? These long caravans are great, but they come with the downside that you are likely to scrape the rear end on entry to sites with steep slopes. If you are going to do a review, pull your socks up and do a proper one. Not one that puts you in a good light with sponsors. I.e. the manufacturer.
