This looks like something I might like - The arc on the c stroke is a challenge. But you seem to run out of paint-do you need to have the paint an ink like consistency?
@rosemalingbyartoflise76574 сағат бұрын
I am glad that you enjoyed the video and are thinking of trying it. Yes that arc on the C is a challenge and practice is key. Since I am working on paper, the paint does need to be an inky consistency. If I were working on a painted surface, for example on wood which is the normal rosemaling surface, then I would not need the paint to be as inky. I hope this is helpful. Thank you for watching!

Do you prepare the ornaments with anything ahead like a glaze mixture or just use your medium mixture with your paint before you paint on glass and or plastic ornaments?
@cms4Lena2 ай бұрын
This resembles the Russian Hohlama style very much. I think Norwegians had had some connection to Russians if not they are from one ancestors. Even Odin has his name sounds like one in Russian Один - the one who is chosen, the only true one, the one God. I just feel it.

Lise, I really want to work on these in October. But, I tried a glass ornament last year and it would not hold any paint or it was too thin. Please advise. Is there a tutorial or technique to help on glass?

Hi, Thank you for reaching out to me about this. I haven't had the issue with the ornament not holding the paint before. What paint brand are you using? I am teaching a class on this, but it isn't until November 21st, I do have past classes that I may be able to share with you.

what is the penny for?
@rosemalingbyartoflise76572 ай бұрын
Hi and thank you for asking. I actually use the penny for size reference. Very often we use put out more paint then we need, so to demonstrate how much paint I actually put out, I use the penny to show the size difference.

What a beautiful work. I live in Brazil and learned a little of this technique about twenty years ago, but I haven't practiced it for a long time. Could you tell me what the medium is for?
@rosemalingbyartoflise76572 ай бұрын
Hello and I apologize for my very slow reply!!! Sometimes I miss the comments along the way. The medium is used to help the paint flow better. I actually just uploaded a video that talks about the medium. The glaze helps with transparency and acts as a barrier between coats, the flow medium thins out the paint and makes it easier for fine detail etc, and the Retarder medium extends the open time of the acrylic paint so that it does not dry out as fast. In Oil paint, the medium, for example, boiled linseed oil, thins the paint out for transparency and finer linework. I hope this was helpful and thank you again for asking!

They loved traveling back and visiting family and also had many beautiful peices and collectables.... tragically their home recently burned down and they barely made it out themselves.... I would like to learn this painting style and create some special artwork for them.

If you to on Etsy, you can find my rosemaling page at artoflisecreations.etsy.com, as well as other rosemalers where you may be able to purchase some pieces for your friends as well. Are there steps to take if you are preparing a piece for being outdoors? I am planning to paint the sides of my new little library to be outside in my front yard. Thanks!!!
@rosemalingbyartoflise76572 ай бұрын
Hello and thank you for asking. First, sorry for my very slow reply...second, I use base paint that is made for outside use. The acrylics that I use to paint with are generally very good for using outside because the flex with the weather. I do use an exterior grade acrylic varnish as well to help the paint last longer. Minwax puts out a decent product for that. Good luck with your little outside library!

Dear Lise, I absolutely love your videos and your didactical skills ☺ I stumbled upon your channel while looking for flowery ideas to paint old doors I am restoring. Your tutorials are excellent and really helped me discover this type of art (I am completely new to painting and never thought I had any talent, but thanks to you the exercises I do are pretty good ☺and yes, I practise, practise, practise). I would love to buy Telemark workbooks from you and also a series of Telemark classes for beginners and onwards. So you have an idea how much I love your "happy little leaves" reminding me of Bob Ross whom you are very much alike in your teaching and warm and funny personality: I would get up at 3 a.m. in my time zone to participate in your evening classes ☺ Also more videos on detailing / embellishments would be very helpful! On workbooks / worksheets: hopefully we can solve shipments overseas (or in an electronical format and I can print them out). Lots and lots of love and admiration for you 🙏❤

Good Morning and I am so sorry for my slow reply!!! I just saw this today and I thank you!!!!! I am so happy you found my channel and I would love to see how your doors turned out! Yeah for practice, practice practice and discovering your art talent! Thank you also for the comparison to Bob Ross. I loved him and painted along with him back in the day. That is an honor to be compared to him. I am working on workbooks/worksheets and more classes. If you check out the website www.rosemalingclasses.com on a regular basis, they will post my classes as well as other teachers. I am working on putting together a email list as well so that I can share information about classes, etc. as well as patterns and all of that fun stuff. I am working on making it so that it is print on demand or electronic transfer so that it is easy for everyone. So many things in the air right not to work on!!!! Thank you again and I so appreciate your kind words!! I hope that you are still painting and I hope this will be a wonderful journey for you!!!

@@rosemalingbyartoflise7657 Dear Lisa, THANK YOU for your precious time you took to reply!!! I am so happy 🙏❤🥰 I will definitely share with you how the doors turned out. It will take some time due to my awful schedule. Also I first have to be content with my rosemalings before daring to paint the doors. In addition, I am first taking the old paint down, then sanding them really well, then repairing them and sanding them again, then grounding, then base coating with a color paint. Plus the frames, which are almost as large in their surface as a door. But you are my inspiration and even if they are done next year, I will send you the result. Wow you painted together with Bob Ross!! 😍🤩👏 So wonderful! You are both so warm and kind and gentle, and so very very talented! (kindred spirits ☺ ) 👏 I am very happy about your practical approach to create patterns and workbooks in a ready-to-print electronic format, much easier to send and we can print as many copies as we need! Looking forward to all your "fun stuff", you are like a fountain of creativity ☺ I do check that page on a regular basis, you had posted and mentioned it in several videos. Looking forward to your classes!! Thank you so much again, all the very best, and lots of good energy for you so that you keep making the world more flowery and beautiful!❤ 🥰

PLEASE do both the course and the workbook. I’ll buy the workbook for myself and all of my nieces and grandma. You’re to me what I imagine bob ross was to a lot of people. I was just thinking how I wish you were on OPB for us here in Oregon so more people would stumble across you. Love this video so much and want to support you as much as possible.
