It seems tht popover _performance technique does not allow anymore to choos « fill », or Am I doing something wrong!
@JCMagsalin5 сағат бұрын
Hi! the performance technique "fill" is a custom performance technique. you can actually create one and assign a popover for it. in this case, i created "fill", "light fill", "overdrive", "distortion", etc..... and saved the file as a template so I don't have to create it again on a new project.

Thank you. Layout is the hardest part of Dorico Pro to get a handle on and you have resolved a couple of queries I had. Like create your own master page from the start.

Juan, is there any chance of being able to download this score (as a Dorico file, or music XML or PDF) .... so that I can study this more closely? Or to see it online somewhere?

This is an awesome demo. I've been watching a bunch of reviews of CSW and I have noticed that most of them mention a phasing issue between dynamics. I have also heard some phasing issues from a legato transition to the sustain note. Are these a deal breaker or is it easy to work around them? Thanks!
@JCMagsalin Жыл бұрын
Hi!! Honestly, no. I write for a tv show and the audience will not notice them. I love how Cinematic Studio Series instruments sound and it has replaced my previous string library and woodwinds in my template :)

Hi Juan great composition! how do you sync a particular scene into Dorico and fit in with the music?
@JCMagsalin Жыл бұрын
Hi albertpepper1 . The first step for me was to setup and sync the frame rate of the video to a Dorico project. After that, it's just a matter of choosing a tempo and composing music that would hit the cues and scene changes in the film. This is why it is important to setup the video first before writing anything in Dorico. Hope this answers your question :) Thanks!!
@albertpepper1 Жыл бұрын
@@JCMagsalin Hi Juan thanks so much for the reply and makes totally sense (that score would look a mess if messing with signature tempo all the time). I guess my struggle is that I don't know how to sync the frame rate of the video to a Dorico project. Any suggestions about that or link to watch about it? Thanks so much
@JCMagsalin Жыл бұрын
@@albertpepper1 you're welcome :) i usually do it manually by checking the video file itself for its frame rate, then setting the frame rate of dorico to match the file. Maybe there's an official Dorico video about syncing video in their youtube channel :)
@albertpepper1 Жыл бұрын
@@JCMagsalin Thanks will definitely check it out. So you do everything in Dorico, right? You don't set the markers in Cubase and export all in Dorico in a second step?
@JCMagsalin Жыл бұрын
@@albertpepper1 yes. for this video and this workflow, i set my markers in dorico while composing. no need to set it in your DAW and import in Dorico. I think I have another video with markers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5nTk2inga2AqNU

You're welcome Henry. Right now, I'm teaching online through a local college. I have not made my lectures yet available publicly. But who knows... I might have time in the future to prepare materials for public consumption on orchestration topics.
@MorisoniProductions2 жыл бұрын
@@JCMagsalin Well that would be great, especially since there are many new Dorico users (like me) who are thirsty for more real-life examples of scoring. Especially when taught by someone who doesn't automatically assume that we already know most of the building blocks of orchestration. It's great to see an arranger/composer in action in a notation program, and patiently explaining what he has done. So, thanks again.

Thanks for including the music-only along with the score! Your music is wonderful. Too bad it had to be dipped so far down under dialog, but you were definitely wise to mix it that way. (I struggled with that also.) Good luck!

Great video. There is one step that doesn't work for me. At around 6:30, you apply changes to the master page first and get a black screen. You then add the page back. When I do the same thing I don't have the ability to add the page - the button is greyed out and doesn't allow me to add it. Any suggestions? I'm on Dorico 4.
@JCMagsalin2 жыл бұрын
Hi Aaron. I saw your post also in the Dorico FB page. thank you for sharing this video there. I've tried to recreate this in Dorico 4 and, on my end, the "insert page" button appears. I'm not sure why it's not available for you. After exiting the "edit master pages" by clicking apply, did you get a blank screen with no pages? What happens for me is sometimes I get one page, and sometimes I get no pages. In the case when I get no pages, the "insert page" button is available for clicking on my end. I'll try to figure this out and send you a video reply through the Dorico FB page when I can. thank you again Aaron!
