How do we gain 2 years exprience under the supervision of a licenced engineer in QC? Does Oiq help us to find the job and the supervisor or it is on our own?
@thefrenchdesi
@thefrenchdesi 5 күн бұрын
Hi, if you are having a technical job then chances are that there should be a licensed engineer working there. You have to approach him and ask if he is ready to supervise you. If the company you work for does not have an engineer, it’s totally fine. You can find an engineer from outside of the company. There is a list of supervisors who are willing to supervise and could be found on OIQ website. You can email them and ask if they are okay to supervise you.

Hi there! How are you doing? Is it worth enrolling ourselves into M.Eng in Civil at Concordia University? Do you have any idea about how good is this University?

Hi Rahul I am good and hope you are too! I did not have any friends who studied civil engineering in Concordia. But generally speaking, yes Concordia is a good university for engineering as compared to other universities. I personally found my masters program to be challenging and rewarding at the same time. Civil engineering/construction jobs are always in demand but in Quebec, you will really need to learn French if you wish to practice civil engineering here. Hope this helps. All the best :)

How long does it take to learn French till B2-C1 level and If I learn French till this level then how will be the part job availability?
@thefrenchdesi
@thefrenchdesi 11 күн бұрын
Hi, the time required to learn French depends on every individual. Just to give you my example as a reference, I was a full time student in French classes and it took me around 9-10 months to reach C1 level. I wasn’t working anywhere at that time. All I did for 9 months was solely learning French. Job opportunities wise, it will obviously give you the edge over others and will able to find one easily.

Can you please be more specific about the TEFAQ scores because what I know is that I need at least level 5 written which is B1 and at least level 7 which is B2 for TEFAQ. Is that correct? Or do they just take the spoken grades, which is the (comprehension orale and expression orale) ?
@thefrenchdesi

Yes you need at least B1 level of written French and B2 of speaking but if you read the report on levels that qualify as level 5,6 and so on, it is very lengthy and does not give a clear answer on which level it corresponds to TEFAQ or TEF. Hence I would suggest to aim for B2 in both the modules to be on a safer side.

Hey Chris thank you for your support! I really appreciate that. 1+1 =2 hold the same in both French and English languages. Likewise, if you study a program in either language would be fine as long as you are getting the right knowledge. If you study your program in French, you will get the advantage to apply your PR through Quebec Graduate Stream and also in terms of job opportunities, you would be equipped with good French vocabulary. Other than that it does not really matter if you study in French or English. But I would suggest that if you have a good command in French, then go for French language program as you will benefit it from it a lot during your PR application.
