Hi cost of living in Montreal is pretty cheap as compared to other provinces. If you are a permanent resident then medical is free but waiting time is at least 7 hours in emergency. 1 bedroom apartment will cost you around 1500-1800$ per month. If you are covered under RAMQ, your medicines are covered under insurance.

I'm thinking of applying to Concordia University for Meng for sep25 intake, then do u need to learn French and show them proof to graduate? And if not then after graduation will i get PGWP?

Hi Saurabh as of now, you do not need to show any proof of French in order to graduate from Concordia. However the government is trying to reinforce the rule where you will need some basic level of French in order to get your final degree. This is just talks right now and not yet official. Regarding your pgwp, you will still be eligible to get 3 years of permit. Hope this answers your questions. All the best!

Hi, you can always find a job if you put in the effort and work. I would say that if you speak French then you can easily find a job in less time as compared to other candidates.

Hi I haven’t heard about this college so I cannot tell on whether it’s good or bad. Yes, you will need to show language proficiency starting November 2024 to get PGWP.

Hello, learning French is not just limited to the domain you work in. I have friends who do not speak French and still works in this domain. I would say that if you want to grow within a company and go to a bigger position then yes French is mandatory. If you want to be just a regular employee then yea you can survive without French as well.

Looking at the current situation it’s challenging for anyone to get a job. I highly encourage you to learn at least basic French in order to stand out of the crowd. Try applying in Westmount area where they have more english speakers but still that doesn’t give you a pass not to learn basic French. All the best!

@@jazielmirza As an international student, you are allowed to do 20 hours of work every week and keeping the basic pay in mind, you can get around 1200$ every month. Now during summers you can work full time and certainly cover up your fees. It also depends on your spending habits and lifestyle you prefer. Generally speaking, you can cover up to 50-60% of fees (lets say 30k CAD for entire program) over the course of 2 years if you live well below your means and save a big chunk towards your tuition.

Hi bill 96 is concerning the language of instruction from government of Quebec to be provided in French only. This does not relate to getting a part time job. You can still find opportunities where English is predominant. If we talk about full-time opportunities, some companies have started providing French classes to their employees who do not have the ability to speak until you have a good grip over the basics and could at least hold a normal conversation in French.

If you are already enrolled in the program then it should be fine for you. You do not need to learn French to get your degree certificate. The government is trying to implement rules that you will only get your graduation diploma if you show a minimum level of French but this is not official yet.

I don’t know about programs that LaSalle offers. I can tell that this college is good in terms of reputation as compared to other colleges. If you are looking for a masters degree, I would strongly recommend to aim for university than a college. Universities are far more ahead and provide quality education than colleges. Working conditions are normal here. Like elsewhere, it can take a little bit of more time to find a part time job but with efforts, you will be able to find opportunities.
