Thanks so much for this bit of history. My Pap-paw was a teacher in Mannington and lived a long life. He taught three generations of the same families and seemed like a celebrity when he’d drive us kids around town. We miss him ❤.

To my hears u87ai is smoother and blended overall. Listening through flat response headphones shure 1840. AMAZING VOICE AND PERFORMANCE BTW!

Have you ever tried a vintage Russian capacitor? The MBGO giants. That is different from the rest. I have not heard anything as perfect as with those capacitors. You don't even have to equalize.

Good information but there's no substitute for listening to a lot of bluegrass to get the feel for how it's sung, and played. Bluegrass Album Band is an excellent starting point.
