Love this, more of this format please. From an early age, I made my mom read me scary stories at bedtime. I've been an ardent Sci Fi and horror movies fan since I can remember.

I nominate Sir Spooks for narrator of the century.

It's always astounded me how places like these are just left to rot. I've seen beautiful homes abandoned for decades with all of their belongings, including clothing left behind. You have to wonder what circumstances caused the families to leave in such a hurry.

I'm from Old Swan and went to St Oswald's primary and Junior school was also baptised and made my communion in the Church I remember my mum and nan always mentioning how my school was built upon a mass grave but I never believed them always just thinking it was to scare me so to find out it was true is simply astonishing. Also, great video mate you've gained a new subscriber not once in my life did I ever think I'd be watching a youtube video about Old Swan hahahaha

I just watched your new channel's first video. It was just awesome!!! Yes, I did subscribe to your new channel and hit the bell. Very interesting story. Are vampires real?? Absolutely "YES"!!! But the skeptical people will say it's all made up stories, a movie for the people's entertainment. Now that is what I call a made up story. Yes people, if you believe in the paranormal, demons, rituals, witches, then believing in Vampires and if they exist should also be included to that list. Can't wait for next video

Great video.I only live a mile or so from Old Swan,not heard this story before,very interesting.

Found an article called "Mystery of Old Swan Graves" on blogspot that goes over this incident. Apparently there was some misrepresentation of the details. (Like, by the original reporters, not this video specifically.) It claims that this area was actually a part of a nearby church burial ground that extended further than realized. The city council simply didn't have documentation for because of bad record-keeping.

That many bodies being shoved into such a small area sounds like the govt had gotten rid of a load of kidnapped ppl that they used for ritual parties. If that pit they were buried in had coffins then it would be 5 x 8 yards to equal 40 square yards where you could only physically put around 48 coffins & for the pit to be 16 feet deep you could fit around 10 coffins deep with a little bit of soil over each if you worked using 16 inches per level so the amount of 3561 bodies only had enough room for 576 coffins. There must have been large crates of multiple bodies or they gave the wrong measurements of the area of the pit & the depth of the pit as well as leaving out information about if multiple bodies were in large crates. There simply is not enough room in that small area for all those bodies because if the coffins arranged side by side with the heads next to the feet of the closest next coffin to get 3 rows of 16 coffins the depth would need to be around 75 layers of 16 inches which equals around 100 feet deep. You can't fit that many bodies in caskets into such a small area so there is something very wrong with the info given.

My therory: they were Irish migrants during the famine that arrived by boat, however, most of the people on board died of an infection contained on the ship. The authorities at the time treating the victims with little respect created the mass grave. Seeing as the migrants families were back in Ireland or deceased, they thought they could secretly dispose of them without any officual record. Not sure how accurate the theory could be because i have know idea if one ship could house 3000 migrants at once at that time ?

Sounds like a plague pit. Come on. The only reason given here against the idea. Is that it was dug a lil deeper than normal? Because the grave diggers did too good a job. That would explain why there was no record.
