How on earth do you start a VR session. I connect my Q3 and see the large VR screen but can't seem to find a way to have full in car VR. In fllight sim I have to press a key to initiate this but I can't find an answer anywhere. Anybody help?

All the menus are in a flatscreen, only when you actually start the race it changes to VR

You're lucky you don't have that weird bug where the steering animation is stuck at lock. Since that bug, I don't know how many times I've launched the car sideways.

As of today it is still on the original beta release with VR, there has not been a further update since. So the same as when you first tried it

@@Catty1985 "Balanced" resolution in Pimax Play. WRC settings are on Medium preset, except for tracks and shadows which are on high

If you use PimaxXR like I am here, you have to run WRC with the arguments "-force -dx11"

Noce graphics. I dont know why, but the graphic is horrible blurry on the Quest 3. I already set the Resolution higher, but this didnt help

That looks amazing! I’ve been trying for day’s to get my Pimax Crystal to look this good. I just get a black screen in OBS with the OpenXR mirror. It’s been so frustrating. I can’t get it to work. I was told that it might be Open Composite that is stopping it from working but I had DCS in Default mode in Open Composite. I’ve also tried to install the OpenXR Mirror manually into Regedit myself. OpenXR Mirror shows up in OBS but it’s just a black screen.

I've never tested this version of the plugin with Open Composite, so that is a huge variable. Conversely, it makes no sense to use OC unless you have an incredibly specific use case?

@@psychokitty4981 I finally managed to install OpenXR Mirror by typing the text in the Registry Editor myself. I just need to adjust the resolution of the Dynamic Foveated Rendering and crop it in OBS to where it looks good and is optimized for 72Hz or 60Hz. Getting there slowly.

How do you get the OpenKneeboard overlays to show up in the mirrored image? Did you have to do anything to get it to work? I can get the mirror image into OBS just fine, but OpenKneeboard is missing (I should mention that I'm trying to get it to work with iRacing, not DCS)

If you're using the OpenXR OBS Plugin, OpenKneeboard will show up there, although there can be foibles with which order the OpenXR layers are in.

I spoke too soon! There's a tool named OpenXR API Layers GUI, written by the Fred Emmott of OpenKneeboard fame. This should solve the problem - will test asap.

@@jaywung7616 sadly, it didn't help. No overlays show up in the OBS mirror no matter how I reorder the overlays. I looked through old footage and found a quick test I did in october last year - then, both OpenKneeboard and OpenXR toolkit overlays were visible in the OBS mirror. Since then I updated everything to their latest versions... I'll keep trying and searching and perusing code if need be...

Nice footage. DR 2 is my first VR game and was able to get it running smooth finally by bypassing steamVR. Now onto upping my time played ....had bad motion sickness early on so only play in short spurts. First time using VR as well.

HI, that's awesome and exactly what I'm trying to get to but somehow I can't interact with the kneeboard. I see it right there on my laps and my pen can move the plane switches but I can write anything on the pad or even bring the cursor on top it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I do have the path to flight sim in the Game Settings so what else to do?

I use a Huion 640P with the Open Tablet drivers (not the factory Huion drivers), and it works perfectly. Check the Open Kneeboard wiki on the GitHub page and its discord

Practice and don't stare at the director lights. I can't remember what I set the tanker speed to in the mission editor, it might have been 350 or something like that.

The replay was just recorded afterwards from the headset as a separate video. Then it was just synced up to the cockpit video

Question: do you get more stuttering with OpenKneeboard vs running without it? It introduced unbearable stuttering for me, but that was probably 6 months ago

thx for the hint on obs plug-in. but how did you capture the replay screen on the lower right? the only way I know is to put my headset down and reset view in order to record the replay.

That's exactly what I did :) In DaVinci Resolve, in the 'transform' settings, you can adjust the pitch, yaw and roll of the image to correct the image

The key is Jabbah's OBS OpenXR plugin, it seems to occupy less resources than maxing out the desktop mirror size: github.com/Jabbah/OpenXR-Layer-OBSMirror

@@OzDeaDMeaT Sort of. You can't turn off the DCS mirror, but the OBS plugin records directly off the image sent to your headset via OpenXR. Then you're not dependent on your DCS mirror resolution--you can record anything up to your headset resolution. My Reverb G2 has a rendered resolution of 3100x3100 per eye, which I'm cropping and scaling to 2560x1440. That's also how I'm capturing the OpenKneeboard layers.

At that upscaled mirror resolution, how good is the FPS over Syria, with lots of AI units?

Haven't tried Syria or the larger resolution yet. FWIW, the desktop mirror doesn't take up extra GPU time, but AFAIK it DOES suck up some extra VRAM, especially at that resolution

Thanks, I haven't uploaded this, but I noticed on higher framerate game, the frametime hit from LVK is much more noticeable. The LVK dev suggests it might add around 3 ms of frametime, so noticeable if you're running 90 fps in Dirt Rally 2.0, but much less noticeable here hitting 50 fps in DCS

LOL, VERY cheap and wobbly! The frame was $90, the handbrake is a T16000m, and the riser for the handbrake is 3D printed. I'm looking into getting the OpenWheeler at some point

Hey, that was pretty dang good! I noticed you were trying the "kick out the crab at the last moment" strategy, but the yaw SAS will fight you some in the A-10 which makes getting the timing more difficult than it otherwise would be, so a good demonstration of timing there! Like I said, the flight manual recommends a partial slip to landing, partly so the HUD doesn't block the runway, but also so the correction doesn't have to be as big before touchdown

Thanks! On disconnecting, the telescoping boom immediately returns to the center distance in DCS. If you're closer than the middle point, you end up with a face full of boom 🙄

Great video! Thanks a lot for this tutorial. It is really dificult to find good tutorials for using the rudders correctly. Could you make a video tutorial about single engine landing procedures (EFATO). I suppose that rudder inputs will be a little different as shown in the emergency manual. Thanks a lot again. 😉
