Bill Jordan mumbled his way through fish and wildlife does not have enough money for the over $1 million dollars it is taking to redo the pier and boat launch for fishermen at McFarland. They are $250 k short. OF COURSE Florence taxpayers to the rescue! Jordan read from the financial statement at this meeting and let it slip that there is $10,457,535.67 left out of the McFarland balance BORROWED IN BOND MONEY for improvements. That is TEN MILLION of your Florence taxpayer dollars that is going into a park that is a known flood zone. It is a PLANNED flood zone by TVA. Your tax money better learn how to swim!

This was a long drawn-out meeting. Jimmy Oliver got the ball rolling with the proposal to stay within the amount borrowed for the construction of a new city hall at $48 million. The rest was like watching a snake swallow a large rodent. My suggestion is skip in the video to the winning suggestion of the night from JACKIE HENDRIX @53:17. Instead of demolishing how about doing like most strapped homeowners in the city of Florence are doing currently if they have to make some improvements and REMODEL?! At least have a study to see what the actual COST will be! To listen to his suggestion from time 53:17 onward gives me respect for him as a council member.

$ 774,265.002 FLORENCE TAXPAYER DOLLARS to a demolition company out of Birmingham to destroy what has not yet been officially condemned or rendered unsafe of the "old" parking deck at the corner of Tennessee St. and Pine St. WHY THE RUSH? It looks like in Florence you may not be able to "fool all of the people all of the time" but when most are willing to be fooled you CAN give it the old college try. Right guys????

That stadium is built next door to Mitchell Hollingsworth. A nursing home full of dementia patients. UNA could have built it anywhere, & they chose next to a nursing home. Just goes to show the morals of UNA.

What is UNA'S graduation rate.??? They are a failure. If not for us property owning State Tax payers they would be even more of a failure. 45 million dollars of State tax payers money in 2023. HVAC don't come from UNA. That would be North West Shoals.

Well, if we’re giving UNA money, they need to give the citizens of the city a better break on the tuition because they keep jacking up the tuition. They get a lot of people from outside the area that can pay the extra. I also believe that a person can have the knowledge needed to do a job without a college degree, and sometimes do it better than the one with the college degree.

I liked all his answers to David's questions with the exception of UNA. He has drunk the Kool-Aid and swallowed whole the myth of the dollar painted purple passing through different hands. UNA is a large employer but mainly employs "imports" and usually only hires local for the lower paying positions available. Also, the example he gave of the plant superintendent in Industrial Park saying the thing he needs most is someone to keep his air conditioning going involved HVAC training. Something that is NOT taught at UNA and the last time I checked; Dandy Andy and the city council did not give Muscle Shoals tech $500k of Florence taxpayer money to build a new HVAC tech training building!
