The standards women are held to and the expectations on them are insane. It's like no matter what you do, you can't win. Take weight for example. If you're too fat, it's bad. If you're too thin, it's bad. And then when you finally find the ideal middle point you're STILL doing it wrong because you're trying too hard. There's no way to win, and it's exactly the same with everything. All of what America is talking about in the Barbie speech; you have to do things, but don't do them TOO much or it's unlikeable. And CERTAINLY don't do them the right amount because obviously that means you're doing it for men and you're a pick me and any number of other insults. And yes, obviously there are expectations on men too. No one is denying that. But it's not nearly to the same degree, not even remotely. We have so much more freedom in what's considered socially acceptable for us to do, and for how we can look. And yes, women know that YOU SPECIFICALLY aren't a part of the problem. Unless you are, in which case you're an asshole and should get help. They aren't accusing you specifically of this, but every woman knows a woman who's had a bad/scary experience with a man, and instead of needlessly defending yourself you should aim to be the man she feels comfortable around, and who will listen and empathize with what she's saying. My main point is, just try and listen and understand women when they're talking about their problems. There's a time to talk about our problems and most women will be happy to listen, but that time is never when they're talking about theirs. Both are real issues, but they can both exist at the same time and we don't need to turn it into a competition.

The excuses men have made to justify their treatment of us and why we can’t do what they do, at this point in my life, I have discovered are exactly the reasons why men shouldn’t be in charge or making those decisions: they are too emotional and they are not strong enough.

To every woman who reads this: you can escape from some parts of this. Focus on building connections with other women, think about your relationship with shaving, makeup and the beauty industry, consider joining 4B or supporting women who do. It won't fix everything, but it might be worth a try. For example, I stopped shaving almost 1 year ago. At first I felt self conscious, I didn't like it at all. Then I realised that it's not a big deal at all, and now I wear it confidently and unapologetically without thinking about it. It's a small thing, but the more this stuff gets normalised the freer women will be in the future. Just take a moment to consider it, regardless of what you choose in the end. Take care!

Haha I was wondering what the comment section would look like and it didn't really surprise. Since those comments have long since been buried I only see people complaining about men's comments but I can imagine it was not a very welcoming place for women. In complete honesty I did have the thought "isn't this what being a person feels like in general?" when I watched this video but then I got reminded of the "literally me" videos and just understood that everybody needs to have their turn

I'm 13 and I relate to this too much. I was always convinced that I was fat. I want to be skinny, but i just feel this need to eat, even when I'm not hungry. I don't bother washing my face because I don't see any difference. I get discouraged too easily. My room is always messy. I get offended too much. I feel like, sometimes, my parents don't love me, even though I know they do. Gosh, I hate the slob that I've become.

It's normal to feel that way, you are not weird because of this. Keep going, and eventually things will get better, I promise. You have all my support ❤ and this goes to both of you. You are amazing, you are enough. Being a girl is difficult, and I remember my life at 13 being very difficult too. You can do this❤❤
@barbaraw124513 күн бұрын
Our body is our home while we're here on this earth. Neither extreme is okay- being obese isn't healthy, but neither is striving to be incredibly skinny. It's okay to enjoy eating, food can be pleasurable. Try getting into cooking, finding simple meals that are fun to eat, nutritious and also taste good. Washing your face is part of how you show up for yourself, take care of yourself. You're not meant to see a difference after one day- it's the small consistent habits that have longer lasting effects later. Washing your face is a good habit. even when you get acne, still wash your face. acne is normal and is not a sign of lack of care, at least at your age. Same with tidying your room, you deserve to come home to a tidy, welcoming space. Take 15 minutes a day, play some music and tidy around your room. Find joy in these tasks, realize that you love yourself through taking care of yourself. all these feelings are normal, but they are not meant to hold you back from adding love and care to your life.

Remember, women, you see yourself from a man's perspective. Erase this idea forever. Wear whatever you want. Take risks. Don't wear makeup. If you want to, wear it, but only for yourself. Their opinion of you doesn't matter. There are those who will love you as you are ❤❤❤

Like fr how hard is it to understand that no matter what tribe we belong to, whether we have di*ks or p*ssies or a f*cking dodecahedron down there, we are all just monkeys,individual beings,with skin that stretches ugly when our muscles move and bodies that break when under pressure. It's just so sad when someone chooses dissmissal over the will to understand when faced with a difference in physique.

I’m so angry and I don’t know how to cope. I’m so sad I want to drown in my own tears. I feel for women, I am women. I want to share a poem I wrote recently to help me cope with all the emotions I’ve been dealing with: Sin “My only sin was to be born woman Because I was born woman, I must bear abuse, incessant harassment and disrespect If I scream rebuttals I am hysterical If I dare dream I am unfit to be mother I must be all things simultaneously, and nothing all at once I fear I've been stretched too thin Patience too thin Sanity too thin One more shove and I'll blow And take the whole world down with me” (Sorry for the layout)
