Great video! I am getting ready to make doll shoe sole molds using chip board and was going to use UV resin to seal it before pouring the silicone over it. However, I wanted to check in with you first to see if you were able to determine if the UV resin did indeed react to the silicone and made those bubbles on the sides of your mold. Appreciate any information you or anyone else would like to share regarding my question. Thank you!
@SpellboundMiniatures3 ай бұрын
@@SunnySunFlower65 yes don’t use UV resin! It releases gasses that make the bubbles in the silicone - so for a quicker shiny surface I’d use a gloss varnish before moulding, if you have more time and patience use regular two part resin 😁👍🏻

To help protect the foil if you go the extra step of putting acetate or packaging clear plastic you will have less chance of foil ripping. You can also do the aging technique on the foil and the clear plastic film over it will make it more realistic.

Can you engrave or would you suggest this tool over the engraving one
@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth I wouldn’t want to engrave this material - it would not be a clean mark, the debossing tool is much better for this pattern and material - engraving is better for harder materials like acrylic and metal 👍🏻
@elizabethcreighton2 жыл бұрын
Perfect thank you so much! I’m going to purchase the pattern from you and try this for my dollhouse I’m working on 😍 I’ve seen people put Spackle on to make grout lines and than sand would take work on this material? Or should I use chipboard or basswood ? Sorry for all the questions haha
@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethcreighton because the debossed lines are so shallow you wouldn’t use spackle - just paint the whole piece (or just the lines) in your choice of shadow colour and dry brush the top colours you want - I’ve also used the Cricut pen to draw the lines on top of the debossed lines to accentuate the shadows 👍🏻

Hello! I'm trying to make the debossed floor for this book nook but it won't work. I don't have a debossing tip but I do have a debossing stylus which I want to use instead. I'm trying to exchange those tools in the edit tools, but the stylus can't be chosen. Am I doing something wrong? I would be so very grateful for an advise. Thanks in advance.
@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi do you mean the scoring stylus? If so, you need to change it back in the canvas section before you hit ‘make it’ - change the line type from deboss to score, then in the tools it will let you select scoring stylus 😁👍🏻

This video has been so helpful!! I have been eyeing up getting a Cricut for months and this video may have made my decision! Did you ever discover what caused the bobbling?
@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Not yet! But I’m going to redo this method with a Christmas version so I’ll see how that one goes 👍🏻🤩 I think it may have been the fact I used resin on neat chipboard without sealing it with pva first 👍🏻 so the next time I’ll seal it first 😁
@SpellboundMiniatures Жыл бұрын
I have since discovered that the bobbling was a reaction between the silicone and the UV resin I used on the edges - apparently it doesn’t like uv resin but is fine with epoxy 🤓👍🏻

@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi the link to the window is in the description box below the video and the book nook was designed for 2mm Cricut chipboard so your basswood will need to be 2mm thick for the pieces to fit together exactly (the material key is in the pdf file titled ‘getting started’ in the svg bundle) 😁👍🏻

Can I use 2mm thick ply board? Having trouble getting 2mm chipboard here in Australia
@SpellboundMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa if you’re using a Cricut you won’t be able to cut plywood, but a laser cutter should be ok for plywood - failing that two thinner layers sandwiched together to make up to 2mm could work but may not be as stiff as the Cricut brand 2mm chipboard - hopefully you can get some somewhere as it’s perfect for this project 👍🏻
