Less dramatic landing conditions in remote area north Australia, but very familiar nevertheless. Our airstrip is 600M. The corporatised missionary stores (ALPA) have caused widespread obesity in major communities. On the much smaller and healthier Homeland communities, government refuses to provide services taken for granted elsewhere in Australia. One small community has not had its access track cleared or destroyed water tank replaced since Cyclone Lam a decade ago, forcing evacuated residents to live permanently in exile. Add ruthless doctors to the equation and endemic illhealth and premature death become uncontrollable. Government refuses to permit autopsies to gauge cause of death. The Liberal Party dismissed Homelands as living museums and the ALP makes unkept promises. The people speak their own sixty or so local languages while the politicians speak only English; thus, zero communication.Looking at the PNG kids, I see the NT as it was fifty years a go. There the problem is political corruption. Caps off to the pilots.

The swirling vortices off the propeller, how cool I've never seen that! Such a wonderful use of technology, helping the people in the mountain villages. A two day trek through the jungle is a 25 minute flight. God bless you!

Not an expert on this but the landing looked as close to perfection as you can get

I have always wondered who pays for the flights. It does not seem as if the villagers have the resources or anyway of generating the resources needed.

Awe inspiring West Papua is the forgotten frontier. I’ve been to Kitikiti waterfall and Triton Bay. Just touch of the treasure but with many hours in helis and fixed wings as a photographer please remember not all days end well. I know too well.

There are a lot of beautiful mountain landscapes out there in the world effectively devoid of human habitation. It is a great thing that you and other marginally sane but highly skilled pilots are keeping these great people in their mountain homes.

Recommend Windex (or equivalent spray glass cleaner) on both the suction cup and the surface it is attached to, dried with a very clean cloth, for the camera mount. (We have a similar, if more prosaic, issue with temporary grab handles on tub and tile.) Tried spray isopropyl alcohol, but Windex works better. Less of a chance of damaging the paint, also.

One does question the form of a genuinely sustainable assistance to an indigenous people and the uniqueness of their life in cultural and traditional terms. If such assistance only adds or increases alienation of their own tough but well-worn hard-earned local knowledge with increasing dependency to the outside world of necessities, even to the extent of what constitutes as modern basic healthcare, education, etc, we are not really helping them to live their full life. We destroy them. The infighting as we witness is a shame on those who provide. They have imported discord and loss of their identity. Left alone would engender a community that would see cooperation and unity as a strength in a hostile environment and with their local knowledge from generations of living in the forest not lost, I bet they will find happiness we know not or ever will in our modern day creatures' perspectives. Sad.

I had the privilege of flying with a pilot from Mission Aviation in PNG many years back. The heavenly beauty from above is breathtaking, and the skill of these pilots is unreal. I saw runways that seemed to hang on the edge of a mountain. This work is vital, these people are so cut off and i had no idea before I saw it for myself. I will never forget PNG and the people there.

Nice video Andre. The vortices off the prop had me mesmerized. And that cloud layer sitting on the mountain. Such a gorgeous place to fly. Thanks again Andre for taking us along 🤙 Someone needs to make a short film with you. Your footage is unbelievable, interviews, Pre flight walk round. I cant get enough

Wow , i'd have to wear some 'Depends ' to land there . Yikes ! i prefer this camera set up way more than the wide angle app that you were using . This gives a more realistic look, IMO
