While taking my father in a Cessna to visit and buzz his brother's home in northern Minnesota he opened up about his time in the Pacific. He said the last time he was in a small plane he was delivering a pig which he held in his lap to a small village in the jungle. The pig was a way of thanking the villagers for their help with driving the Japanese off of their island. I wish my father had been able to get some pictures of the pilot and the strip they surely would have been remarkable.

Ive spent over 20 years working and living in PNG. So much of what these guys do isn't even about flying. The respect and love they show for these people has far reaching effects on these communities. Sometimes the only hope these people have is the planes arrival, with much needed food and medicines.
