I was thinking that instead of a fan you could mount a drill bit to the bottom of the shaft and drill holes with a arrowhead. Fire also

Definitely the wet season. That was probably the slowest he has ever started a fire.

I believe in order to achieve a malleable forgeable metal you may need a higher grade flux like coke or you can re use that slag that you made as a flux to possibly reduce oxidation. The lack of limestone or feldspar also make me think there are still far too many impurities in the metal. Depending on the type of impurities in the iron different fluxes are added, for example limestone (for siliceous iron ore) or feldspar (for calcareous iron ore) I'm not a metallurgist by any means but I'm a passionate smithy so forgive me if this information isn't correct, but I hope it may give you something to research more on your own.

Could you also use th whole weight mechanism to spin a peice of wood fast enough to make a fire

Ok, but if there’s really that much iron in that sand, just use a magnet - forget the sluice box. I’d be guessing, but I don’t think many rivers have that much iron - nowhere I’ve ever lived.

It'd be pretty lame if he just bought a magnet and used it, kinda defeats the whole purpose of his content

Would it increase the efficiency to add a weighted clay disk to the axel? The idea being that more momentum is conserved between each pull, but making it slightly harder to pull.

Wow... you can totally see how this would work with a free spinning wheel being driven by a river current or something. Fix one end and you've got a piston when you've perfectly balances it's motion with the belt.

so what if you made like 4 or more pillar type structures out of the bricks and a type of tiled roof like in the brick hut so just make the brick hut without a majority of the walls and floor id think that work good against a wet season and weather in general but still is way less work comparitively but good videos keep it up man great job
