#MrHappyMondays Hello Happy, Based on the question about world content, I think adding duels a la Bozja would be a great way to breathe a little life into the FATE system and give a familiar, yet tantalizing goal for players to return to older zones. Obviously, all of that is fleeting because they all get done eventually by those that want to and actions are (currently) off the table which limit possible mechanics, but it could be a good way to drum up a bit more life into areas and make the FATE grind as a whole less mind-numbing. Hell, make them level-synced to the area and tough to complete without potions and the like -- make players engage with eye drops and items like that outside of Deep Dungeon. The amount of work on these required is not lost on me, but I think it's a worthy investment for areas to feel like they mean anything once the MSQ passes through them. Could be a good way for newer players to organically learn their jobs and long-time players to test new jobs when they release. Just my two cents because I always want the "old" areas to be more than just set pieces and a place hunts happen sometimes. Thoughts?

solo play is why iplay private servers. need to release a classic ffxi.

This problem wouldn't have been hard to avoid. Tl;dr they made way too much of the blist operate client-side instead of server-side. The only reason the client would ever need to know the account ID is to have the blist behavior - hiding characters, blocking chat messages, etc - also operate client-side, which it shouldn't anyway. SQEX constantly complains about how much data they have to maintain and send over the wire, right? Well, guess what? Having all of that blist behavior be server-side would prevent them from needing to send a whole swath of data to various clients, such as the "there's X character at Y position wearing Z outfit" or "you received a message from X character containing Y text" messages any time the recipient has the sender blisted. Yes, it'd be slightly more computationally expensive on their end, but the emphasis there is on "slightly". All the client needed to know was what _characters_ the user had blisted and which of those were character-specific vs account-wide so the user could know whether they wanted to unblock any given character and, where relevant, the associated account without having to actually know what account that is. It wouldn't cost them any additional storage, either, because they already have to store this data to be able to send it to the client on login; if they didn't, logging in on a new machine or after a reinstall would come with an empty blist.

21:53 The feedback in the in-game menu is specifically for feedback to the support team, not the game developers. I have gotten very detailed responses from the team by reporting bugs using the in-game menu, though.

I'm sorry for the block of text again, really, but I feel like I needed to make a clarification to my comment that you answered with regards to other forms of world content in FFXIV. I'm not saying the game needs some sort of tedious, expansion-long grind. Idk if you're familiar with the infamous AP grinds that WoW had for 3 expansions straight, but I went through that horror, and that's the last thing I want. I've just noticed the pattern now of the same 2 or 3 grinds at the start of an expansion, and there's nothing new to freshen things up in say a future patch to give players a reason to come back to these gorgeous zones past the start of an expansion. It doesn't necessarily need to be Dynamic Events from GW2 or World Quests from WoW, though if Square thinks they could make either of those work, I'm not gonna be against them giving it a try for an expansion. World Quests in WoW are honestly a pretty simple system when you get down to it. But it feels as though their answer is to just do the exploration zones in place of any of that, and while I'm very happy that those exist and are coming back for Dawntrail, I don't think that's a good excuse to leave your initial zones for the expansion out there to dry and basically have no updates past some tribal quests. That's basically all I was trying to say.

Thank you for being like the only creator to actually understand explain that this is a security hole, not at "mods" problem. (This particular problem wouldn't even be solved by an anti-cheat, btw.)

#MondaysWithMrHappy Hey Mr. Happy! What do you think SE should do with the leveling in FFXIV now that players have hit lvl. 100? I don't think the merit / job point systems would work at all with FFXIV, and the Master Level system is only unique because of sub jobs. Would you like to see lvl. 110 in 8.0, or some other system?

There are still some problems involved in blacklisting, I was not aware till yesterday, when someone blacklisted joined a PF that I was already in, the player name was changed to Unknown 01 and all their messages appeared as "message from blacklisted player" (or something like that). IMO, blacklisted shouldn't be able to join a party I was alredy in. After that, changing name and sending the message censored helped nothing. I had to take it off from blacklist to see their messages since that could help or not the raid.

#MondaysWithMrHappy Hello Mr.Happy, what do you think about more jumping puzzles, I love kuganue tower. It's so funny watching people do it when you are there. Also what do you think about the change in design of the outfits in ff14 over time alot of my favorites are actually in ARR do to the simpler rugged design. A bit too much glowy and shiny gear pieces for my taste.

I think most people view midcore in regards to players and not the content themselves. It seems midcore is not that easy, but not that hard and everyone is going to view different raids as difficult. I hate M1S, but think M2S is pretty easy in comparison. There are people I play with that feel the opposite though and said they never want to enter M2S again. I came from WoW and believe that even "casual" players could clear mythic content. Savage content in FFXIV for me doesn't feel like WoW mythic raiding and is somewhere between normal and heroic raids in WoW. The normal 8-mans in FFXIV feel like LFR. I think the biggest problem with the raids are the other players. I know a lot of people that were only able to get a clear by sitting in PF all day because their groups would break up after the first 2 pulls and they would completely disband or have to wait 30min to an hour for fills.

#MondaysWithMrHappy Hello, a question about the content release schedule in FF14. Having 5 types of raids released in the first 6 months of the expansion seems weird (coming from someone who enjoys raiding). Why reveal content that is a year or more away after the expansion's release so early? Blizzard releases their expansions for WoW with all the content advertised in the first month. Anything in the later patches just adds to the expansion rather than deliver content that was promised years ahead.

The problem with modding there is need to be a line what is okay and what is not okay

There are so many things that "SE should address rather sooner than later", it really starts to feel like they're actively losing control over their game more and more. Well that and then, deciding to send foreign account IDs to the game client and acting as if modders don't exist and wouldn't try to find out how your game works on a very technical level every single day screams of incompetence. Someone needs to get fired.

I finished last night. The enemy rate encounter is ridiculous. Ruined all experience playing the game.

To me the strat chosen should really just be whatever is easiest for people to do consistently. That is the issue in 24 man content - what can most people do consistently. There may even be a 3rd strat that is less popular because they were made by a nobody and it's easier than either of these 2. People care more about supporting their favorite strat guide creator or pooping on Mr Happy's strats sometimes (IME). What you say at 52:00 is so interesting. A group of friends decided to do EX3 blind. We cleared it completely blind running 2-3hrs a week and cleared some phases faster than other friends who used Hector/PF strats and ran 4-6 hrs per week. After clearing we watched guides and we handle some strats the same as Hector suggests and some completely different. What do we hear from friends who followed other strats? That our strats are suboptimal and we are going to have issues clearing this with others and will have to completely relearn the fight. What they don't understand is we tried multiple viable strats that worked, but ultimately chose a strat that everyone was consistent with (so less deaths). I don't think we are going to have an issue if/when we PF this. This type of thinking isn't special to FFXIV though since most gamers tend to follow a "guide" because they just want to get their stuff and get out (or they are insecure).

This kind of thing has the potential to get SE to enforce their no mods language in their ToS.

People say (incorrectly) that the glory FF days were VI-10 but I always think XI is the best FF and should be included. I didn’t play it then but even now it is fantastic. Thanks SquareEnix for keeping it running.

So as awkward as it sounds, I would actually like a mod that told me who was undercutting me for the retainers, mostly because I suspect I am being undercut by bots. Like no matter what time I list something in the day, within 5 minutes I have been undercut by the same "person" on that market. Granted I wouldn't be able to do anything about it, but if the name is something like Xyszyfgf Uljuijinoa or someother spam, it would at least bring me peace of mind that I am in fact dealing with a bot, or if not then I am fighting a fair fight.

I dont fully understand whats going on (maybe its my lack of english knowledge) The market "Retainer" thing i dont understand at all. translating retainer makes 0 sense in that context. The blacklist hitng, I understand it like, if you ban someone with your main character, the banned guy know the alt character ? Really lost here on whats going on

i don't think it's possible to create a blacklist that's even remotely viable. well outside of data processing, anything in social media... blacklists just don't work and they create more problems then they solve. there is no real way to address the many issues that come from then, from twatter just telling you you are blocked, to other sites that return a 404, to basically any method of creating such a feature. it just creates problems for everyone while limiting what moderation needs to be done, there's a lot of issues that arise from the implementation that just doesn't really help often times can drive more problems at the end of the day.

EU clear rates are so low because of the 1-3 wipe disband meta. You wait for 10-20 minutes to get into the fight, then swaps go wrong as they usually do on first pull. 1 person immediately leaves and 1 minute later you are left waiting with like 8-12 players to refill. This completely takes the fun out of the content. On EU it was like this from day 1, so it took me 3 days to finally get a clear just because of people always leaving as soon as you actually reach the prog point. We clearly need a system where player's can't leave the content even when started from PF without having requeue consequences, like you get when you normally queue into it. The clear and farm rates would instantly go up. Got quite a few friends that generally enjoy the content but stopped progging and farming the fight because of people leaving after 1-2 wipes.

A lot of the social features in this game are completely laughable in how easily they can be abused by bad actors, staying in friend lists of people you have blacklisted, allowing the marriage ring teleport to work even if the other party has "divorced". so many avenues for stalking in this game

So...he made a plugin...just so he can DM people and throw a bitch fit over a few hundred gil. Why do I feel that this goes far deeper then just them trying to find players associated with the undercutting. Also....on the MB if that is the primary case...just randomize the names of the retainers. The player can name their retainer whatever they want but when it comes to the MB a different name will be shown. Other option is just to remove retainer names. I do not believe this person made that plugin for just that, he had to be paid by a group of people who wanted info on specific people. This sounds like a black hat job. The release of the mod is just a smoke screen to hide whatever else this guy is cooking or his goal is to pretty much nuke a certain launcher all together.

This is what you get if you allow your fanbase to be so degenerate in the first place. No other MMO has this issue. This game is Valorant of MMOs, people play this solely to romance and groom somebody lol
