Having a whole team of analysts throughout the entirety of the race isn't too surprising, but nothing could have prepared me when he said "I have to do performance reviews for the analysts."

2:02:08 - 2:03:38 So fucking true. I'm so glad others see the wow race for what it really is. None of that nonsense should ever be in ffxiv. This is a fucking mmorpg, not some world championship e-sport event. The MogTalk events we've had so far for DSR/TOP and savage tiers is more than enough.

I remember looking up the legality of mods in Japan at one point. From what I could tell (and with google translate), the original law gave artists the right to preserve the integrity of their work. Konami then used this law to sue a group of fans who were distributing a modified memory cartridge for one of their games. Said cartridge gave people the basic action replay type stuff like maxed out stats and all of the unlockables. Konami won the lawsuit (and the appeal), which went all the way to the Japanese Supreme Court. This set the precedent that modifying games for a gameplay advantage infringes upon the integrity of the game and thus opening the door for legal action. As a sidenote, Nintendo tried a nearly identical lawsuit in the US against the company behind the Game Genie and got wrecked in the US courts. So us Americans (probably) don't need to worry.

Even if its a pretty outdated legal precedent, I can't think of any japanese developers that have embraced modding. Most either pretend it doesn't exist or actively try to make games harder to mod. SE simply looking the other way in regards to third-party tool usage unless its something that's very visibly cheating is probably the best we can ever get.

Us filthy Americans are book thieves who would get away from murder. Japanese people are the Guardians of the Vault and have to deal with the corpses of dead original games. XD

An example of an Ahk Morn type attack that does more damage on the first hit is in p11s, where the Styx first hit does way more damage.

It's easy to talk shit about PF strats when you're always on voice comms in a static with people calling things out for you. PF strats need to be consistent without assistance, and sometimes you have to trade optimal solutions to enable that consistency. Some people don't have the option to join a static but still want to do the content, so that's their only choice.

Which was not the case for Light Rampant at all since there were way better strats around at the same time, and they werent even any more complicated. ( this is pretty much the same for like every mechanic tbh, every decent uptime strat requires zero communication and is 100% consistent)

Instead of nurfing picto maybe look at the other jobs and think, how could this be improved with better downtime and better job design because picto is the definition of good job design

Its definitely on par with TEA on release, but it varies in how much more difficult it is based on PCT or not. PCT allows for way way more recovery , which makes the fight basically = to Tea imo. but without PCT it is slightly more difficult. (based on release, and my experience with it them) But it is not even close to DSR and TOP in difficulty.

As an unbiased bard main I support this comment. Just raise all of the passive party buffs by 1% and add 400 dmg to the songs won’t affect game balance at all… I mean it’ll still be weaker than picto 😉

As a PF gamer I’d still rather any other caster that knows what they’re doing over a bad picto. Going from a party that can’t do p1 enrage **with** a picto, then having tons of room clearing enrage with RDM, BRD, DNC, SAM is pretty 👀

How's the dynamis mechanic in top unfair? I hear this sentiment echoed a lot in the community but never understood why. Is it just because it's too hard? If so I don't think unfair is the right term

They are always framing things in relativity to blind world race prog. For blind world prog it felt unfair because it is very difficult to understand how it even works.

Having to know 8 different iterations of positions across 3 mechanics (each of which with mechanical variation that you don’t necessarily know exist until your group encounters it. most ppl call it a final fantasy 50/50). Examples are like sigma trio having 2 different tower layouts that you may not know exist with pull RNG, but a more common example might be like just getting spreads only in a savage like P3s and then you learn there’s a stack version. It’s a kind of ball busting difficulty in ultimate where you CAN see the next mech very infrequently if everyone gets a role they know, but it’s so far into the fight that figuring this stuff out can get very tiring and mind numbing in prog. Juggling this variation on top of managing dynamis during omega trio is a bit much/unfair for how far into the fight it is without a figured out guide/AMs.

@@Spicynugz223 So people don't like it cause it's hard got it. Nothing wrong with that but I find it weird when they try to reframe is as being unfair rather than just admitting it's too hard for their liking

And when a single mistake just immediately ends the run because the method of trying to fix the debuffs has yet to be implemented, if there even was one, and everyone know how to do it on top of every potential permutation of said mechanics. Also not considering that every single phase cannot have a death since every mechanic required all 8 players and getting hit typically just ended the run. All before you can even see Run: Dynamis (Delta Version) and immediately wiping to it once every 60-90 minutes. It's just soul crushing to see wipes before Phase 5 to things like not fully knowing how the movement and positioning works for a very specific set of debuffs and priority. And then Phase 5 comes in from the top rope at 10 minutes with a think fast or explode mechanic with very little to initially go off of. Dynamis was a constant failure condition that loomed overhead where any failure in the phase ended the attempt. It isn't like TEA where Nisi could be dropped and you can still continue progging the phase up to the Gavel cast, or not getting the Enigma Codex and getting lucky. You were still able to get information even if a mistake was made, but not so with TOP where a single mistake anywhere would just end the run.

@@skcanspeople don’t like it because it’s not fun to learn/execute. The majority of P5 is repetitive 2x buster into a mit check raidwide, followed by a long downtime trio. The prog experience is pretty miserable as others have mentioned, a single mistake ends that pull and you can’t prog further without redoing the first 10 min of the fight perfect (which is very monotonous in comparison) to get practice on these late fight trios (trios are generally in the start-middle of the fight for most other ults) that you’re building a working knowledge of and everyone’s learning these role agnostic mechanics as opposed to role based ones like in other ultimates. As someone mentioned in this pod, where mechanics are placed in fights alter the framing of the mechanic’s difficulty. Unfair is more of an overstatement, but in comparison most ultimates have 1-3 mechanical walls across entire fights whereas P5 of top was a series of these walls after you numbed your brain to 100s of looper/party/synergy pulls that required a constant but un-engaging amount of attention.
