Love it. Have learned how to throw it for shorter drives and approaches. Also awkward putts when it is hard to generate power.

Kind of what I like what infinite disc does, they pretty much go off of what Innova flight numbers are but then has a subset of numbers of kind of how it feels from there. And even when you look at listing of different brands it shows that brands flight numbers but then kind of the infinite disc/anova what it feels like variant. So you kind of always have a rough understanding

As has been mentioned flight numbers have too many variables. Assuming a consistent throwing motion and release angle, flight still varies by arm speed, plastic, air temperature, elevation, and wind. Flight numbers even vary between runs. If you look at the parting lines for example you can find under and over stable destroyers or valkries. There is no replacement for throwing a disc for yourself.

Great vid, very well produced, only critique I have is there are other factors that affect flight like weight distribution between the rim and flight plate, dome, etc.

I think Innova Shryke is a pretty close comparison to the Strive so that comp would've been nice as well.
@evolutiondiscgolf9892 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! The Shryke has a noticeably wider rim and higher parting line.
@tonykaze2 ай бұрын
Stability isn't decided by PLH alone, there are a ton of factors. It's a good indicator but definitely not a direct proportional predictor of stability. For the Strive it really just boils down to a bad turn rating on it. It should have been like -2 / 2 comparable to an MVP Wave. The problem is that Latitude marketing seems to be aimed mostly at newer players, but newer players can virtually never throw a 13 speed at the required speed - so they see it as more overstable than it actually is.

I was at the pro shop yesterday and I was looking for a Wraith. Comparing edge heights, there was as much as 2mm variation between any two in the stack of 15 or so Star Wraiths. If the nominal height is around 7mm (eyeballing it), we're talking a variance of roughly 30% Short story: not even a Wraith flies like a Wraith.

anyone that thought that the numbers were universal is new to the sport...this video is pointless tbh...you can throw 3 of the same exact discs on the same line and they will fly differently...i don't want to be that guy but i've been poorly playing this game for 23 years and the only thing i know for sure is that disc golf is the only game that will cause a hippie to hate trees...
@edgarpung58432 ай бұрын
I agree. Take two exact same disc and they will fly different. I think maybe the best way to do this is. 1: use one of them new disc launchers turned down to a ‘normal arm speed’ say 60mph and base the flight numbers off that. 2: stamp every disc with a run number and then send the disc threw the disc launcher between each run adjusting the numbers between plastics and runs. (This isn’t going to happen) so just stamp every disc with a run number so can get a general idea of stability by word of mouth.

This is actually why I only bag one brand of discs. And I start with the same plastic and similar weights between them before I know enough to move on to different plastics and weighs with different stabilities. It's easier to find a disc to fit a slot at that point because within reason, within the same brand, plastic, and weight, you can remove the unnecessary variables when trying to diagnose your discs but also your mechanics. "Well this should fly straight, but it's super OS" - okay, now I don't have to worry about a ton of stuff and figure out if I'm throwing on hyzer for some reason or I'm doing something else weird. And if I can get that down, then I can diagnose a disc inconsistency or something weird. Instead of saying "why is my hex more stable than my claymore!" A third party would be AWESOME! especially if it could figure out the varying stabilities with plastics and weights as well. Not just the molds. A true rating system that takes into account those variables would be awesome

Yeah… and when even the plastic affect the stability… it is not easy to be beginner discgolfer! Some companies like mvp rates their discs differently based on plastic they use…. But even that is not consistent. I have several mvp shock fairway drivers… one is stable / understable. Rest are overstable meathooks. Same plastic, same weigth different characteristic! Is croscountry skis they test each ski and get the stifnes of that particular ski… Yeah… not likely to see test to each individual disc… but some way of separating different stability disk even with same oranssi and same mold… would be nice. A sticker weight and higher ratio measured in factory line automatically for each disk… maybe?

The -3/2 Vanish flies like a -1/3 Wraith?
@evolutiondiscgolf9892 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! Flight numbers can vary quite a bit from company to company. MVP discs are almost always more stable than their counterparts from other companies. In our Discraft Drive rim comparison video, we can see that the Wraith and the Vanish have similar parting lines.
